Bizhub Jam Update

The document provides troubleshooting steps for a jam code 32-05 occurring at the fuser in several Konica Minolta bizhub models. The root cause is typically poor quality or damp paper. To address this, technicians can reduce the fusing temperature by up to 20 degrees and change the warm up mode to mode 3, which was most effective in field tests but increases warm up time. In severe cases, the customer's environment or paper quality may need to be improved.

J 32-05 jamming at the fuser
Problem
Jamming occurs at fuser and the jam code 32-05 is displayed in the jam code list.

Cause

The root cause of this problem is in most cases due to poor quality paper or damp paper.

Action

The MFP already has modes built in to the FW to assist with these customers environments and from
field testing these settings have proven to reduce the occurrence of these jams.

Setting that can be used are.

1) Service Mode > Machine > Fusing Temperature.

Reduce the fusing temperature by –5degrees at a time depending on the environment.

You will need to test the result and reduce to a maximum of –20 degrees in more severe environments.

Note: In high toner coverage environments reducing the temperature too far
may cause incorrect fusing of the toner.
2) Change the warm up mode.

Service mode > System 1 > warm up.

In the field tests Mode 3 was the most effective, but please note: that setting this mode
will increase the warm up time.

As the root cause of this issue is the customer environment (Damp, Cold etc.) and
poor quality paper being used, in severe cases these root causes may need to be
addressed.

See the next page for more details on advantages and disadvantages of changing the
warm up mode.
