Landing Gear

1. The landing gear system has 5 functions and is electrically activated and controlled by the PSEU. 2. It uses hydraulic system 3 for normal extension and retraction but can be manually extended if needed. 3. The nose landing gear steering is electrically controlled and hydraulically powered up to ±80° with the nosewheel steering tiller.

5 functions – 1.

LG positioning control
2. LG position indication
3. WOW indications
LANDING GEAR 4. Fuselage door indications
5. Thrust reverser indication

• Electrically activated + controlled by the PSEU and displayed on EICAS primary page. Actuated by
Hydraulic system n. 3, but in case of a failure it can be manually extended
- Normal extension/retraction: You select the lever (LDCL) so this signal is sent to PSEU and it
monitors WOW inputs + proximity sensor inputs. If it’s in correct parameters, the PSEU energizes
the lever using the hydraulic system n. 3 -> LDG selector valve
- Alternate extension: Extended by the release handle in the flight compartment. This makes the
MLG release and also activate a downlock assist valve which provides hydraulic system n. 2 fluid
to an actuator that releases NLG, which free-falls and is helped by ram air

NLG steering is electrically controlled and hydraulically powered.

±80° with the nosewheel steering tiller (only on the left side) // Up to 8° with the rudder pedals
In case of failure – differential braking + thrust PSEU = Proximity Sensing Electronic Unit
MLG = Main landing gear
• HORN:
NLG = Nose landing gear
- activated = NOT prop. conf. // LG not down or locked
BTMS = Break temp. measurement system
- deactivated = switch/light in the LG control panel
OVH = Overheat
• BRAKES
ASCU = Anti-skid control unit
- N2 outboard and N3 inboard
- In case of failure: Accummulators will provide reserved pressure for max. 6 brake applications
- Pressure indicated on EICAS hydraulic synoptic page
If leak occurs the associated hydraulic fuse will close off the hydraulic line.
The MLG have 4 heat sensitive fusible plugs that release excessive air pressure in order to
protect the MLG against the burst.
- temperature = it has a BTMS that will be shown on EICAS status page
Green = ≤ 06, whenever it gets > 14 = OVH warning
• ANTI-SKID
- Dual channel and when ARMED enables the ASCU (provided that the parking brake is not
engaged and that both MLG are down + locked)
Becomes operational when a 35 kts wheel spin up OR WOW signal is present after 5 seconds on
the ground. The anti-skid is operational down to 10 kts.

PROX SYS FAULT – status message (white) = NO-GO MESSAGE

• Gear disagree
- indicates that landing gear position does not agree with landing gear control handle position
o appears after 6 seconds without movement
o appears after 28 seconds with movement
