1. What is the good life?
The term “the good life” can mean quite a variety of different things to different people. For me,
the good life is a life lived doing the things that satisfies you and fulfills you, one that adds
happiness, joy and a sense of purpose to your life. That is to live an honest life and full of integrity.
But not every person that is living “the dream” or “the good life” is actually living a good. The
good life is a term that refers to a (desirable) state that is primarily characterized by a high
standard of living or the adherence to ethical and moral laws. In its two different expressions,
living the good life can be either expressed through an abundant/luxurious lifestyle full of material
belongings or the attempt to live life in accordance with the ethical, moral, legal and religious laws
of one’s country or culture. As such, the term can both be understood as the quest for wealth,
material possessions or luxuries and the quest to create a worthwhile, honest and meaningful
existence.
2. Does technology lead us to the good life?
In today’s globalized and modernized world, advancement in old technology resulted in modern
technology and many discoveries have been made and quality of life of the people have improved
as a result of availability of modern technology. A car shortens your 10 hours long way to 20
minutes long way, and internet makes searching, learning and communicating much and much
easier than it used to be. Laundry machines in your house help your cleaning clothes a lot and
many more. Undoubtedly, modern technology has become a crucial and prominent aspects of our
life. Although it has led to complications, it is actually reasonable to say that modern technology
has very much improved the quality of life of people.
3. What constitutes a good life?
Happiness defines a good life. This happiness, however, is not the kind that comes from sensate
pleasures. It is that which comes from living a life of virtue, a life of excellence, manifested from
personal to the global scale. When we say virtue it means the excellence of character that
empowers one to do well and be good. Such virtue is cultivated with habit and discipline as it is
not a one-time deed.
4. How can I have a good life?
One can have a good life when one practices and develop doing well and choosing what is good.
Approve of yourself. Your limitations may just be in your mind. Lighten up and have some fun.
Let go of anger. Release yourself from entitlement. And many more. Do things that makes you
happy.
5. What does Aristotle say about the good life? Does it still stand in the contemporary world?
According to Aristotle a good life is more than countless expressions of what is good. It is
characterized by happiness that springs from living and doing well. Many call it happiness, and
suppose that living well and doing well are the same as being happy. That is marked by happiness
and excellence.
Yes, it still stand in the contemporary world because when a one is an athlete and he/she strives
to be the best version of an athlete by training hard as well as joining and winning in sports
competitions gives satisfaction and fulfillment to one’s self and with the aid of modern advances
we can improve more and better that before. By constantly doing good and choosing what is right
we can live a good life.
