that is similar and relevant to the present study. The researcher has gone through the
materials available in the websites.
Effectiveness of Tertiary Learning Towards Students
According to an article that are entitled “Self-Efficacy” (Pajares, 2003) conducted
in EMO University located at Atlanta Georgia, USA, discusses that the research shows
the distinction between college fitness and college readiness. For example, students
finish his/her necessities in high school comprehensively, however, the students in
regards of the knowledge in college, academic skills, and study habits that strictly
support the student to complete their college.
Analyzing and Intervention for College Readiness
As stated in the study entitled “Analyzing Evidence of College Readiness: A
TRI-level Empirical & conceptual Framework” (Kless, Soland, And Santiago 2013),
Cover a study that shows the pre-eminence between college readiness and college
eligibility.
The main level of the study is to recognize the “crisis” and any problems of entering
college. The main purpose of DepEd’s K-12 Curriculum and what necessary for the
students to be ready when they pursue college. Also, students are taking school for

over 13 years, some of them are not still prepare to enter college life. The rates of
students who want to repeat some courses are 60%.
The article authorize “Filipino HS grads are not prepared for college” (Anonymous,
2013), the country’s largest college say that most of the Filipino students don’t have
fully skills to accomplish the success. Some of the students who finish High School
are not capable to have an appropriate skills and potential in which the students should
passes when the student enter in college the officials state. Students in High School are
not been prepared to enter in college as claimed by Tommy Lopez, a president of
Academy Governor and University of Makati (Umak). However, all of the students
have invited for free to fasten with the program of college preparatory wherein it is the
“Career Factor” that helps all the students to make up a decision on what suitable
courses of the students should must get and to enrich their skills that should be possess
in college.
Effect of Work Immersion for College Preparation

psychological characteristics and prior academic performance, social and institutional
factors as well as outcomes of the learning process were found to affect academic
performance of students. Research that has investigated the effects of age on student
performance has generally found that mature-age students receive higher grades in
tertiary education settings (Delluchi 1993; Harrington & Harrington 1995; House
keeley Rech 1996; Hoskins, Newstead & Dennis 1997) There have been some
reported

METHODOLOGY
Research Design
The research study is made through the use of descriptive research, wherein it will
assess the preparedness of grade 10 students under Academic Strand before entering
Tertiary Level of Education or College. The researchers attempted to describe and
discover the different indications or basis for the students in order to be prepared in
college. The research also determines the role, function, benefits and impact of grade
10 students to the teachers and parents, together with the advantages of students that
belong to the Academic Track. According to John Dudovsky (2017), descriptive
research maybe categorized as simply the attempt to determine, describe or identify
what is. It is used to describe various aspects of the phenomenon and describe and/ or
behavior of some population. Three main purposes of descriptive studies can be
explained as describing, explaining and validating research findings. According To a
website named AECT, several authors define descriptive type of research in respect to
their own perceptions. Glass and Hopkins (1984), defines descriptive research as the
gathering of data that describes events and then organizes, tabulates, depicts and
describes the data collection. It often uses visual aids such as graphs and charts to aid
the reader in understanding the data distribution. Because the human mind cannot
extract the full import of a large mass of raw data, descriptive statistics are very
11
Mahonri Academy and Science High School
important in reducing the data to manageable form. Krathwohl (1993), description
emerges following creative exploration, and serves to organize the findings in order to
fit them with explorations and then validate those explanations. Bong and Gall (1989),
the descriptive function of research is heavily dependent on instrumentation for
measurement and observation.
Sampling and Sampling Design
Since there is no list of all the students in private school in Dasmariñas to serve as a
sampling frame. 20 student will be the target number of respondents.
Respondents of the Study
In this research study, the chosen subject or respondents are the grade 10 students
under Mahonri Academy and Science High School.
Research Locale
This research will be conducted in Mahonri Academy and Science High School since
the chosen participants are the grade 10 students in this school. This school is located
at Phase 3 Mabuhay Homes 2000 Paliparan II Dasmariῆas City, Cavite. Mahonri
Academy and Science High School is one of the premier educational institution within
its reach. It educates students to perform well inside and outside the campus. who
graduated with honors and flying colors. This study will be conducted in Mahonri
Academy and Science High School since that this school has also a problem with
regards to students’ preparedness for college that needs to be recognized immediately
to be prepared for their future and treat them to become productive not just as a
student but also a citizen of this society. It is also stated in Mahonri’s vision wherein
12
Mahonri Academy and Science High School
one of their purpose is to have value oriented and productive students that will be
helpful in the society.
Instrumentation and Validation of Instrument
The survey instrument used in this study was a self-administered paper–and pencil
questionnaire used to gathered detailed information about the students preparedness in
pursuing college. The validation is considered a process of gathering evidence or
information that an instrument measures what it claims, or purports, to measure.
Method of Data Analysis
The main purposes of data analysis were to explore the multifaceted nature of
educators’ understandings and to contextualize them within normative understandings
of secondary and post-secondary levels. The interviews were transcribed verbatim for
data analysis. All of the transcripts were coded in their entirety. Records of the
transcriptions and the coding process constitute an audit trail of the data analysis
procedure.
Mean meathod The mean score for Linkert Scale for each students responses
will be computed. The formula is as follows:
μ = (x1 + x2 + x3 …x20)
250
13
Mahonri Academy and Science High School
Where: μ = mean score
xi = individual score
The results will be interpreted using the following 5-points scale:
Completely satisfied – 5(4.50 – 5.00)
Very satisfied – 4(3.50 – 4.49)
Moderately satisfied – 3(2.50 – 3.49)
Slighty satisfied – 2(1.50 – 2.49)
Not all satisfied – 1(1 – 1.49)
