INTRODUCTION
Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2017, the students of Grade 12 Humanities and
Social Sciences (HUMSS) of New Dumangas National High School were directed to have
their Work Immersion at the different offices and departments in the Local Government
Unit of Tboli Municipality. The immersion will last for 10 days including the orientation
and convocation days. This subject will provide learners with opportunities (1) to become
familiar with the work place; (2) for employment simulation; and (2) to apply their
competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in authentic work environments.
Learners are immersed in actual work environments such as workshops offices
and laboratories in which their prior training is relevant. Work Immersion is a key feature
of the SHS Curriculum. It can be conducted indifferent ways depending on the purposes
and needs of learners.
In my part I was assigned at the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Tboli Police
Station.
CONCLUSION
Work immersion enables learners to become familiar with the workplace, simulate
work, and apply their competencies in authentic work environments.
For almost ten days that I’ve spent during my Work Immersion at the Tboli Police
Station, I have learned lots of experiences which will be applicable to my future career.
The said learning experience that I got from it which can range from 60 to 80 hours will
surely enable and help me as a student as I familiarize myself with the workplace thus
experience workplace simulation and apply in my competencies in areas of specialization
as a student of Humanities and Social Sciences.
I am thankful to the rest of the staff of Tboli Police Station and to the staff of Tboli
Tourism office for accommodating us during our work immersion. Surely, what
experiences that I have learned will be applied for the success of my future.
