Summer Breeze Quilt

Designed by Donna Jordan for Jordan Fabrics

Finished Size: 46x64 inches

Fabric requirements:

¼ yard or 1 FQ each of 8 dark (or colorful) prints for wedges

¼ yard or 1 FQ each of 8 light prints for wedges

1/8 yard or 1 FQ each of 4 dark (or colorful) prints for corner triangles

Inner border - ½ yard, light Outer border – ¾ yard, dark Binding – 5/8 yard

Backing – 3 yards
Cutting Directions:
Wedges - take each print and cut 1 @5” strip the width of the fabric (WOF). Cut each strip into 12
wedges using Kaleido-Ruler. You need a total of 96 dark and 96 light wedges.

Corner Triangles – take each dark print and cut 1 @ 3 ½” strip WOF. Cut into 12 – 3 ½ squares. Cut
each square in half from corner to corner along the diagonal. You will now have 24 – 3 ½ inch
triangles from each print for a total of 96 triangles.

Inner Border – cut 5 @ 3” strips WOF

Outer Border – cut 6 @ 4” strips WOF

Sewing Directions:
Each block is made from 8 triangles – 4 lights and 4 darks. Sew four pairs together (one light and one
dark) along one long side (see diagram 1). Finger press seam allowances flat toward the dark side.
Sew two of these pairs together to form half blocks. Finger press seam allowances toward the dark
side. Sew the two halves together, making sure to match up the middle seams. I like to poke a pin
right through the spot I am trying to keep matched.

Repeat until you have 24 blocks.

Steam press the blocks very flat and press the center seam allowance to one side. Stitch 4 corner
triangles onto each of the dark wedges (see diagram 2). Steam press the blocks flat with seam
allowances toward the outer corners. Trim off dog ears and square up blocks to measure 9 ½ inches.

Lay out blocks in a 4x6 block pattern, turning blocks if necessary so that you don’t get the same print
right up next to itself in the neighboring block. Stitch into rows and stitch rows together. Quilt and
bind as desired.
