Statement of Purpose

Muhammad Sabir is applying for the Visiting Students Research Program to study Vertical and Lateral Heterogeneity in Unconventional Source Rock Sequences. He has a passion for geology and has received several honors, including completing a geological map and a gemology course. He believes the VSRP internship will help enrich his knowledge and expertise in the field. SUBJECT: Vertical and Lateral Heterogeneity in Unconventional Source Rock Sequences

I am senior of Geology at the University of Baluchistan, Department of Geology. In line with


my field I am more inclined and passionate to explore more about the field of Vertical and
Lateral Heterogeneity in Unconventional Source Rock Sequences and understanding of the
distribution of litho- and organo-facies, porosity, geochemical and geomechanical properties
of the reservoir layers. Inshallah I will be unlocking an important milestone in my academic
journey this 17/05/2020, as I graduated from my course. I my academic journey, I can
humbly say that I have garnered several awards and honors such as: I completed 1 mouth
field work and geological map of the assigned area. And I also completed 6 month
Gemological course from the Gems and Jewelry institute Quetta. Beside these I also
participated in the All Pakistan Geoscience Association (APGA) for the technique of
Hydrocarbon and mineral exploration. I have been exposed to allot of things and I will always
treasure the insight that I have earned both in and outside the portal of the university. I can
truly say that my experience taught me the value of patience, perseverance and consistently
strive for honor and excellent.

I am proud and happy to say that I am well rounded student. My teacher did not only teach
me the dynamic of Geology but also significate life literacies and work ethics. My mentors
conducted learning activities that allowed us to connect to the society and how our field can
help further developments and provide for human necessities. My mentors always take into
account that I should not solely focus on the struggles that I face within the pillars of the
academy, but also to arm and prepare myself for a greater battle that is how I will apply what
I learned to the society especially in the exercise of my profession. In line with this, I do
believe that enrolling in the institute of “King Abdullah University of Science and Technology”
for the internship program can help me enrich my knowledge and technical expertise in the
field of Geology.

Furthermore I am also active participant of field work with Geological survey of Pakistan for
the purpose of structural geology mapping of Khuzdar, Baluchistan area under the
supervisor of Director Khawar Sohil. This field work project was line to my interest which I
take with full confidence.

As you may observe, I really enjoyed and treasured every learning activity that I have been
involved with. My ultimate objective is to master and become an expert in this field and I
know your instruction can help me attain such a goal.
