FNC210 Instructions For MO2

This document provides instructions for installing the Fallout: New California mod using Mod Organizer 2. Key steps include creating a new MO2 instance and profile specifically for FNC to avoid conflicts with other mods, downloading and extracting the FNC installer files, creating an empty mod in MO2 for the installer to use, running the installer executable through MO2, enabling and adjusting the plugin load order, and checking the INI files for correct settings before launching the game through MO2 using the FNC Launcher executable. MO2 INSTALLATION for FALLOUT NEW CALIFORNIA

Revised 12/15/2018
MO2 PREPARATION:
You must use MO2 version 2.1.5 or later.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6194
IF YOU HAVE TTW INSTALLED, DO NOT INSTALL FNC IN TTW’S MO2 INSTANCE! CREATE A NEW
INSTANCE AND PROFILE!
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TTW INSTALLED, WE RECOMMEND YOU CREATE A NEW MO2 INSTANCE AND
PROFILE ANYWAY!

CREATE A NEW MO2 INSTANCE:

Launch MO2. Click on this button to create a new instance. Note that currently I am in the TTW instance:

Click ‘Yes’ to restart MO.

Click ‘Create a new instance’.

Give it a name:

Click ‘ok’

Select ‘New Vegas’ as the game to manage:

Click ‘No’ for the tutorial:

Notice the change here. To switch back to TTW later on, just click on the same button to switch the MO2
instance:

Click on the settings button. We are going to change the Base mod/profile path so it is not in APPDATA.
Browse to a reasonable place (not in Program Files either):
Browse to a location and ‘click ‘New Folder’. Give it a name and press ‘Select Folder’.

Click ‘Ok’, then ‘Yes’ to confirm:

Close MO2 then reopen it.
Under ‘Profiles’, click the dropdown arrow and select ‘<Manage>’. Then click ‘Create’

Give the profile a name and click ‘OK’

Highlight the new profile and check all the boxes:

Finally, switch to the new profile using the dropdown arrow:

INSTALL:
Download the FNC 2.1.3 installer to a folder on your computer and extract the zip file:

Launch MO2. In the left pane, in a blank area, right-click and select ‘Create Empty Mod’. Type ‘Fallout
New California 2.1.3’ and click ‘ok’.

Click the checkbox so the empty mod is active:

Click on this button to edit executables:

Fill in these fields:

Title – whatever you want.
Binary – browse to the installer executable under the FalloutNewCaliforniaBETA213FullInstaller folder
Start in – browse to the FalloutNewCaliforniaBETA213FullInstaller folder itself.
Check the box ‘Create Files in Mod instead of Overwrite’. Then use the dropdown to select the empty
mod that you made.
Then click ‘Add’, then ‘Close’:
Select the installer from the dropdown and click ‘Run’

‘Yes’ to elevation prompt:

Install Normally:
Only change this if the installer didn’t find your FalloutNV.exe in the registry – browse to the folder
where it is located. Otherwise, IGNORE the destination folder - MO2 is fooling the installer to go into the
empty mod anyway. Just click ‘install’

The message about patching with the 4GB patch will appear after all the files are extracted. Press any
key in that window.
Press ‘Finish’
MO2 might crash if you click on the empty mod at this point, so just close MO2 and relaunch. The
install is ok even if MO2 crashed at this point.

The 4G patched FalloutNV.exe no longer needs the vanilla Launcher, nor the nvse_loader. NVSE will be
loaded if detected. So,
Click on this button again to edit executables:

Fill in these fields:

Title – FNC Launcher
Binary – browse to FalloutNV.exe
Start in – browse to the root game folder itself.
Check the box ‘Use Application’s Icon for shortcuts’. Then click ‘Add’, then ‘Close’
Enable the plugins and adjust the load order:

THIS SECTION IS CRITICAL ESPECIALLY IF YOU INSTALLED TTW FIRST!

Check to make sure your INI file was set correctly by the installer. This value is used for when you start a
New Game. EVERY PROFILE HAS ITS OWN SET OF INI FILES.
Click on the ‘Tools’ Icon and select ‘INI editor’

Select the ‘Fallout.ini’ tab. Ensure this line is correct: SCharGenQuest=00AD31FF

Next, select the falloutcustom.ini tab, if it is there. IF YOU INSTALLED TTW FIRST, IT WILL BE THERE
AND IT HAS A DEFAULT SETTING THAT NEEDS TO BE REMOVED IN YOUR NEW PROFILE.
Remove the [Archive] section and click ‘Save’. Notice the Fallout - Meshes2.bsa entry. This is a TTW
setting. The falloutcustom.ini is used with JIP LN NVSE Plugin. If you don’t have the plugin, the INI file
will have no effect, but you should fix it in case you install JIP later. Editing the file here will NOT affect
your TTW instance.

LAUNCHING THE GAME:

Steam users - Login to Steam before launching MO2. Select the FNC Launcher and click ‘RUN’
UN-Install:
Close MO2
Go to programs and features in control panel. Uninstall Fallout New California.
Open MO2 and delete the mod.
