NOTE: To get Fallout 3 to work on your machine, please watch this video by Gopher and do

everything he says. This is how I got it to work for me on WIndows 10. Then, browse the
performance mods listed below for even better performance. Once done with performance,
move on to gameplay enhancements to give you certain features missing in FO3, like sprinting
and iron sights, that you are used to from FONV and FO4.

ENB
An ENB gives your game a new look. I use this to make my game look less green and to give it
better color.

DC Moods: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19191/
● Install DC Moods first, then Bluegrass (below). I used the “good for enbs” version
of DC Moods.
Bluegrass: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21397/?
● Note: I did not start using it until 8.05.2017. Any videos published before this date
do not reflect the look of this ENB.
Blackout ENB: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/48203/?
Note: I now use this one. I used Bluegrass up until Reilly's Rangers, then after that,
switched to Blackout. However, I have tweaked my Blackout ENB settings substantially,
so if you install this ENB, you will not get the exact same look as my game (especially at
night, which I altered the most). To tweak your own settings after installing the mod, hold
SHIFT and press ENTER in-game. You can then fiddle with variables to get the look that
you want.
ENB first person transparency fix: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/18716/?
● Note: Use this if your hand gets transparent while using an ENB.

Weather & Lighting

F3ProjectRealityMkl: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17418/?
● Note: I ended up removing this weather mod because it added a fake looking
“depth of field” which was crudely implemented. It made game footage look like
poorly masked images from Photoshop. Instead, I use the weather mod below:
Xepha’s Dynamic Weather: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/10607/?
Motion Blur & Depth of Field Modular: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/7132/?

Textures & Meshes

Hi-Res Weaponry v3: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/481/?

● Alternate: Fallout 3 Weapon Retexture Project:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/18133/?
Gauss Rifle Hi Res Texture: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21167/?
● Note: Install this AFTER installing Gauss DX, listed below under “Gameplay
Enhancements”, if you choose to use it.
Enhanced Blood Textures: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/101/?
FO3 Flora Overhaul: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19864/?
Enhanced Night Sky: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/442/?
Energy Visuals Enhanced: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8340/?
● Update: I no longer use this. While the effects are nice, after months of playing
with them, I found them to be too over-the-top. I also prefer many of the original
weapon sounds, and the enemy death/melting/ash animations can sometimes
cause my game to crash. Note that if you choose not to use this mod, you will not
be able to get iron sights to work with energy weapons if you use RH Ironsights,
below.
● Also, this mod inexplicably adds new weapons to the world which we find all over
the game. This became confusing when shooting lore videos.
NMCs Texture Pack: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/12056/?
Megaton Texture Pack: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1662/?
Rivet City Texture Pack: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3612/?
Better clutter and furniture: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8498/?
Fallout 3 Hirezed: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19931/?
Better booze: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/626/?
● Note: The optional “wine” file makes my game crash. I had to remove it.
HD Pipboy retexture: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8302/
● Update: I now use 4k Realistic Pip-Boy Retexture, which I believe looks much
better: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19290/?
Skill Books retexture: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3876/?
High res burned and prewar books: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3679/?
High res clutter: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6894/?
Replace mirelurks with the Fallout 4 models:
http://www.gunetwork.org/t12968-relmirelurk-replacers-from-fo4-for-fo3-ttw
● Note: I stopped using this because it led to unpredictable game crashes.
Fallout 4 Aliens for Fallout 3: http://www.gunetwork.org/t13191-fnvrel-fallout-4-aliens-for-nv-3-ttw
Superpele’s Disordered Retexture Pack:
http://www.gunetwork.org/t11883-fnv-superpele-s-disordered-retexture-pack-v2-0
● Note: Install this AFTER NMCs texture pack (above), and Clutter Retextures
(also above) and choose “yes, replace all”. Since this was made for New Vegas,
you will need to download it manually, and then install it manually using Nexus
Mod Manager.
6ixes Clutter Texture Pack: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/22323/
● Note: This is the best “clutter” texture pack I have found. However it doesn’t have
every clutter item. Install the other clutter texture mods first (mentioned above)
and then install this one. If there is a conflict, overwrite by choosing “yes to all”.
● Note #2: Since this mod was made for Fallout 3, you will need to download
manually, unzip, delete the .esp, repackage the textures and meshes only in a
new .zip, and manually add it to Nexus Mod Manager for Fallout New Vegas.
HD Smoky Fire & Explosions: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20053/?
View Distance Decreased: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/7804/?
Improved LOD Noise Texture: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17743/?
Better ballistic weapon impacts: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20977/?
Power Armor for Women: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17383/
● The author of this mod packaged it incorrectly, so you can’t install it using Nexus
Mod Manager. You need to download the file manually, extract its contents, and
then pull the data folder out of the “core” folder. Then re-zip the data folder along
with the .esp of your choice to make a new mod package. Then use NMM to
install the package.
● Update: I no longer use this because the power armor partially covers up the
pip-boy.
HD Earth as Seen From Space: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19294/?
High Res Chinese Stealth Armor: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/5666/
Hula Girl retexture: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/63338/
Gameplay Enhancements

Sprint Mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1854/?

Enhanced Camera: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/20183/?
Simple Dot Crosshair: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/22471/
Smooth PipBoy Light Enhancer: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/18389/?
● I now use this one: Tweaked PipBoy Light:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/22507/
RH_Ironsights: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/6938/?
● This is an essential mod for a modern play-through of fallout 3. It provides the
“true iron sights” functionality that comes with Fallout New Vegas and all modern
FPSs. Without this mod, you simply can’t shoot guns outside of VATS.
● Note: This is a tricky mod to use. It works well when used right. This mod
requires the Fallout 3 Script Extender (page one, above). After installing, you’ll
find a new item in your Aid menu of your PipBoy called “gun oil”. Activate it, and
then you need to move weapon sway to minimum. This makes iron sights usable.
Note that iron sights do not work with some energy weapons. I cannot get it to
work on my tri-beam laser rifle, but it works fine on my Metal Blaster from The
Pitt, and laser pistols. Make sure you install the EVE bridge if using EVE,
otherwise this will not work with any energy weapons at all.
Manual Reload: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/19147/
Pistols Fix for RH_Ironsights: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21794/
● This mod does a better job of lining up the ironsights for some pistols. Install this
mod after the previous one.
Weapon Mod Kits: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3388/
● This mod brings the weapon mod system from Fallout NV and Fallout 4 to Fallout
3. You can attach scopes, silencers, and extra ammo clips to most guns. You can
turn guns from manual to automatic.
RH_Ironsights + Weapon Mod Kits Compatibility Plugin:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/13347/
● This makes the weapon mod kits from the above mod compatible with
RH_Ironsights. Install after installing Weapon Mod Kids.
Fallout 2 Sounds for Gauss Rifle: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3718/?
● Update: I no longer use this. I made my own mod using the sounds that come
with the creation club gauss rifle for Fallout 4, which you will hear in my newer
videos.
Anchorage Gauss Rifle VATS Damage Fix: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3463/?
● Update: I no longer use this. I replaced it with the mod directly below.
GAUSS Rifle Alternative Fix: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/7202/
● Due to a bug in the game, the vanilla gauss rifle ignores cits, sneak crits, hit
location, damage resistance, and more. The mod I used above fixed this problem
by remove the gauss rifle area-of-effect splash damage that comes with the
weapon. This mod manages to fix the bug while retaining the splash damage
feature of the weapon.
Gauss DX: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/7513/?
● Update: I no longer use this. I removed it because it increased the chamber from
1 round to 3, which I believe gives the player an unintended advantage when
using this gun.
Quieter Dogmeat: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/309/?
Fallout 3 Re-animated: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/7670/?
Repairable Gauss Rifle: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/3640/?
● Update: I no longer use this. We can always repair the Gauss rifle using alien
epoxy or going to a repair merchant, so this mod is not needed.
Immersive Pickup Sounds: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/22100/?
Alternative Idle Animation: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/5067/
Auto Aim Fix: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/5606/
● This is an important mod to use for players who do not use VATS. The way the
game works is that when you fire a bullet, the game engine artificially makes the
bullet rise as it travels through space. This make sniping outside of VATS very
difficult, especially at long ranges. The game also has an “aim bot” that causes
bullets to move towards the torso of an enemy outside of VATS. This makes
sniping difficult, especially when enemies are hiding behind barriers and you are
trying to shoot limbs. This mod removes the auto aim that comes with vanilla
Fallout 3.

User Interface

MTUI: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/43/?
Color Pip-Boy Map & HD Icons: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/1789/
● Update: I no longer use this. I found some of the icons to hard to see on the
colored background.
