The poem is about gender equality, and it suggests
every person’s ability, regardless of their gender.
Personally, gender equality comes in many forms, but let us
define what’s gender equality first. Gender equality is a
state when opportunities and rights are met in spite of
gender. As what I have mentioned, gender equality comes in
many forms. I can provide some instances. It is when a guy
doesn’t give up his bus seat to a woman who can stand during
the transport time. When same sex marriage is approved
without judgement from the society, that’s equality. In
addition to that, there’s gender equality when employers
don’t underestimate people based on their gender and give
them the work they are applying for.
When people stop generalizing genders based off of
stereotypes, that’s when gender equality blooms. Come to
think of it, there won’t be sly remarks from someone
completely unknowledgeable about your capabilities and
instead, trust that you can do your job seamlessly. Isn’t
that nice to experience? If only people weren’t dumb
enough…
The entire message is and will be forever relevant due
to its importance in society. As long as there’s prejudice,
then gender equality should stay as important as your basic
needs. I have mentioned basic needs now, and let’s take that
as an example. I just have one question in mind. Why is it,
that the groceries were never full of men, shopping? It is as
if women are designed only to do grocery shopping when in
fact, guys can do that as well? Is it because the society told
us that the girls are the ones supposed to do it, or is it the
peer pressure from the dead? There’s a system that is
affecting all of us and we are in a never ending battle of
oppression unless we stand up for what is right and just. We
shouldn’t rely solely on the fact that plenty came and
reigned before us. Our time is now, and we are the ones
living for it. Let us not make it any harder for all of us. We
are all equal, despite the differences in ability, gender, or
even age, and that is something we should keep in mind. The
line/s or phrase/s I can relate to are, (1), “For every woman
who takes a step toward her own liberation, there is a man
who finds the way to freedom has been made a little easier.”
I am a woman of justice and rights for everyone.
Oftentimes, it is us, women, who has the burden of
keeping our thoughts to ourselves because it is deemed
irrelevant or out of the world. Must I say that that is a very
appalling thing to say especially when what a woman says is
very helpful? When women embrace their true purpose and
live by their own rules without actually making bad effects
to other people, people are scared or weirded out. This
happens mostly. I hate the fact that it is treated as a mere
luxury nowadays, and it is never normal for women to stand
up for themselves because, “they are women, they’re not
supposed to clap back.” In my point of view, that is a big no.
This gender differentiation really needs to stop. It
paves a way for massive discrimination and in turn, limits
and deprives people to becoming their best versions that
can eventually help the whole nation escape from the hands
of poverty and injustice. Must I reiterate this further? No?
I thought so.
