Point-to-point Microwave Link between Globe Tower in Cotabato-Davao Road,
Kidapawan City and Malasila, Makilala, Cotabato
SITE SELECTION
In the site selection, Google Earth Pro was used to check for line-of-sight in choosing potential
sight locations. The microwave link communication design, the Globe Tower is in Cotabato-
Davao Road (7° 2'19.69"N, 125° 1'30.81"E). The repeater is in Malasila, Makilala, Cotabato
where the proposed tower will be built. It is 0.37 kilometers away from the Cotabato-Davao
Road (Malasila National Highway) which means it is near power lines (6°56'24.44"N, 125°
8'0.94"E). The transmitter and receiver sites is verifying that there is no natural and man-made
obstructions between them.
Globe Tower (Transmitter)
The Globe Tower is located in the intersection of Kidapawan-Allah Jct Rd and Paco-Arakan
Highway along the Davao-Cotabato Road.
Repeater Site
(Malasila, Makilala, Cotabato)
The repeater site was chosen due to the fact that (1) it is an empty lot; (2) it is far from
residences; and (3) strong signal coverage is needed in the area.

REPEATER TOWER
The tower repeater is selected due to the following considerations:
1. Rigidity
2. Height
3. Wind Loading
4. Land Area
5. Cost
Since the area (Malasila, Makilala, Cotabato) does not have any high-rising building, a self-
supporting tower was selected for this proposal since it can be built on grounds. The advantages
of self-supporting tower is that it is the strongest among the towers and has the greatest
resistance to ice and wind loads.
ANTENNA
The antenna on the repeater will be a parabolic dish antenna at 20m above ground level. This is
chosen due to its high directivity. Parabolic antenna application usually includes point-to-point
communication. In this design, parabolic dish with parabolic reflector will be used to provide
high power gain which is important on a point-to-point microwave communication system.
TRANSMISSION LINE
The transmission line on this proposal will be an elliptical waveguide because the transmission
losses are less than that of coaxial cables.
