Beowulf is an epic poem that takes place in Denmark and Sweden around 500 AD. It follows the story of Beowulf, a Geatish hero, who uses his superhuman strength and courage to defend the Danes from Grendel, a monstrous being, Grendel's mother, and later a dragon. After tearing off Grendel's arm, the hall is attacked by Grendel's mother seeking revenge. Later in life, as king of the Geats, Beowulf faces his final conflict when a dragon attacks his kingdom after its treasure is stolen.
