Significant Weather Features

♦    The   Northern   Limit   of   Monsoon   (NLM)   continues   to   pass   through   Lat.   14°N/   Long.   60°E,   Lat.   14°N/   Long.   70°E,   Shirali,   Chitradurga, 
Arogyavaram, Sriharikota, Lat. 14°N/ Long. 85°E,   Lat. 19°N/ Long. 90°E,   Agartala, Lumding, north Lakhimpur and Lat. 29°N/ Long. 95°E. 
Conditions are becoming favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of 
Karnataka and Rayalaseema,  some parts of south Konkan & Goa, Telangana, some more parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Central Bay of 
Bengal during next 48 hours. Conditions are very likely to become favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of 
Maharashtra, Telangana & Coastal Andhra Pradesh in subsequent 48 hours.

♦    Conditions are also likely to become favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into most parts of Arabian Sea, remaining parts of 
Maharashtra, some parts of Gujarat, southern parts of Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal  & Sikkim , remaining parts of 
Northeastern states and most parts of Bay of Bengal.

♦Yesterday, Heat wave conditions were observed at some places over West Rajasthan.

Main Weather Observations

♦   Rainfall observed (from 0830 hours IST   yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today): Rain/thundershowers  observed at most places over 

Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Kerala and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura; at many  places 
over Marathawada ;  at a few places over south Interior Karnataka and Gangetic West Bengal and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka, 
Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra,  Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu & Puducherry and Assam 
& Meghalaya.

♦  Amount of rainfall recorded at 0830 hours IST today (2 cm or more) are: Ratanagiri­12; Kozhikode­6; Agartala, Bramhapuri, Mumbai, Cochin 
(A/P)­5 each; Canning, Parbhani   and Vengurla­4 each; Dhubri, Tondi, Kottayam and Karipur(A/P)­3 each; Kohima, Aijal,  Belgaum, Matheran, 
Chitradurga and Valprai­2 each.

♦   Thunderstorm  observed at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Assam & Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, East Madhya Pradesh, 

Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Karnataka and Tamilnadu & Puducherry  from 1130 to 1430 hours IST of today.

♦   Maximum temperature departures as on 04­06­2018:  Maximum temperatures  were  markedly above normal (5.1°C or more)  at many  

places over Jammu & Kashmir; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C)  at most places over East Rajasthan; at a few places over West 
Rajasthan;  above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C)  at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi , West Madhya Pradesh, Sub­Himalayan West 
Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh and Saurashtra & Kutch and at isolated places over Konkan & 
Goa, East  Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic west Bengal  and Tamilnadu & puducherry. They were below  normal (­1.6°C to ­3.0°C)  at most places 
over Jharkhand and Madhya Maharashtra; at many places over Bihar, Interior Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Kerala; at a few places over 
Uttar Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at isolated places over Telangana and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and near normal over the rest of the 
country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 47.6°C was recorded at Phalodi (West Rajasthan) over plains of the country.

♦  Minimum temperature departures as on 05­06­2018: Minimum temperatures are markedly above normal  (5.1°C or more ) at many places 
over Jammu & Kashmir; at a few places over Himachal Pradesh;  appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C)  at most places over Punjab and 
Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh; at many places over West Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand; at a few places over East Rajasthan and west Uttar 
Pradesh;  above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Sub­Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim; at many places over  West Rajasthan, East

extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.

♦  The cyclonic circulation  over northeast Rajasthan & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level embedded in the above trough persists.

♦  The cyclonic circulation  between 1.5 & 2.1 km above mean sea level over northeast Chhattisgarh & neighbourhood persists.

♦   The cyclonic circulation over southwest Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood at 3.1km  above mean sea level persists.

♦  The cyclonic circulation  between 4.5 & 5.8 km above mean sea level over south Bihar & neighbourhood persists.

♦  An off shore trough at mean sea level from south Maharashtra coast to north Kerala coast extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.

♦    The cyclonic circulation over northern parts of Westcentral Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood between at   3.1 & 4.5 km above mean sea level 

persists.

♦   A Low Pressure Area is very likely to develop over North Bay of Bengal around 08th June.

♦   The  cyclonic circulation over Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala­Karnataka coasts  extending upto 0.9 km above mean sea level has merged with 
off shore trough.

♦  The east­west shear zone roughly along Lat. 13°N  across south Peninsular India between 3.1 & 7.6 km above mean sea level.     

Weather Forecast for next 5 days *  upto 0830 hours IST of 10th June, 2018

♦   Meteorological sub­division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table 1.

♦   Day maximum temperatures are very likely to continue in the range of 42­45° C over many parts of Rajasthan and 40­42° C 
over rest  parts of plains of northwest and adjoining central India during next 2 days.

Weather Outlook for subsequent 2 days  from 10th June to 12th June 2018

♦    Conditions are likely to become favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into most parts of Arabian Sea, remaining parts of 
Maharashtra, some parts of Gujarat, southern parts of Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal  & Sikkim , remaining parts of 
Northeastern states and most parts of Bay of Bengal.

♦    Active to vigorous monsoon conditions are likely to prevail leading to persistent very heavy rainfall along the west coast.  Scattered to fairly 

widespread rainfall likely over major parts of the country except over parts of Rajasthan and north Gujarat where the rainfall is likely to be isolated.
