Significant Weather Features

♦  A combination of weather systems in the lower, middle & upper troposphere is causing moisture incursion and conducive conditions for scattered 
precipitation along with Thundersqualls over Gangetic West Bengal, Assam & Meghalaya, Mizoram & Tripura, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar during 
next 24 hours.

♦  A north­south trough is likely to cause isolated thunderstorms over parts of south peninsula during next 24 hours.

♦   Heat wave conditions are likely to continue over parts of northwest and central India during next 2­3 days, with severe heat wave in one or two 
pockets of West Rajasthan today.

♦   Heat wave conditions prevailed at  some parts with severe  heat wave conditions at one or two pockets  over West Rajasthan.

♦  Thunderstorm  observed at a few places over Jharkhand,Telangana and Kerala; at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, 
Odisha,   West   Bengal   &   Sikkim,   South   Interior   Karnataka   and   Tamilnadu   &   Puducherry   from   1130   to   1730   hrs   IST   of   today.

Main Weather Observations

Rainfall recorded (from 083 to 1730 hours IST of today ):  Rain/thundershowers observed at a few places over Jharkhand; at 
isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and 
Tamilnadu & Puducherry.

♦   Amount of Rainfall recorded at 1730 hours IST of today (1 cm or more) are: Jamshedpur­2; Kohima, Ranchi and Hyderabad­1 
each.

♦    Maximum  temperature  departures   as  on  01­04­2018:  Maximum temperatures are  markedly above normal  (5.1°C or 
more)  at most places over Jammu & Kashmir; at many places over West   Rajasthan; at a few places over Arunachal Pradesh; 
appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at most places over  Himachal Pradesh; at a few places over East Rajasthan; above 
normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C)  at many places over Punjab, West Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada and Assam & Meghalaya; at a few 
places over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and at isolated places over Tamilnadu 
& Puducherry;   They are  appreciably below normal (­3.1°C to ­ 5.0°C)  at many places over Gangetic West Bengal;  below 
normal (­1.6 °C to ­3.0°C) at most places over Bihar; at many places over East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand & Chhattisgarh and at a 
few places over Odisha   and near normal over rest of the country.  The  highest maximum temperature of 43.2°C recorded at 
Phalodi (West Rajasthan) over the plains of the country.

♦    Minimum temperature departures as on 01­04­2018:  Minimum temperatures are  appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 

5.0°C)  at a few places over Jammu & Kashmir; at isolated places over West Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh;  above normal 
(1.6°C to 3.0°C)  at most places over Telangana & Rayalaseema; at many places over Punjab; at a few places over Himachal  
Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Saurashtra & Kutch and Tamilnadu & Puducherry; at isolated places over 
Gujarat region, Vidarbha and south Coastal Andhra Pradesh. They are  appreciably above normal (­3.1°C to ­5.0°C) at a few 
places over Chhattisgarh, Konkan & Goa and North Interior Karnataka; at isolated places over Odisha; below normal (­1.6°C to 
­3.0°C) at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal and near normal over rest of the country. The lowest minimum temperature 
of 14.0°C recorded at Shivpuri (West Madhya Pradesh) over the plains of the country.

 Meteorological Analysis     (Based on 1730 hours IST) 

♦    The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies from 
west Arunachal Pradesh to southeast Madhya Pradesh across west Bihar & southeast 
Uttar Pradesh with its axis at 7.6 km above mean sea level persists.
♦    The other Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies 
roughly along Long. 44°E to the north of Lat. 28°N persists.
♦  The cyclonic circulation over northeast Madhya Pradesh & neighbourhood extending 
upto 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.
♦  The trough from the above cyclonic circulation to Comorin area across west Vidarbha, 
interior   Karnataka   &   interior   Tamilnadu   extending   upto   0.9   km   above   mean   sea   level 
persists.
♦   The   cyclonic   circulation   over   East   Bangladesh   &   neighbourhood   at   1.5   km  above 
mean sea level persists.
♦  The cyclonic circulation over Comorin area & neighbourhood at 1.5 km above mean 
sea level persists.

♦    Meteorological sub­division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given 
in Table.
♦   No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over East India during next 48 
hours and rise by 2­3°C thereafter.
♦   No significant change in maximum temperatures over rest of the country during next 
3 days.
