Carlos Glidden

Carlos Glidden (1834-1877) invented the first practical typewriter along with Christopher Sholes, Frank Haven Hall, and Samuel W. Soule at a machine shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He continued improving the typewriter until his death. Glidden kept working to enhance the typewriter and received several patents for his work.

Carlos Glidden

Carlos Glidden (November 8, 1834 – March 11,


1877),[1] along with Christopher Sholes, Frank Haven
Hall, and Samuel W. Soule, invented the first practical
typewriter at a machine shop in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin.[2][3] He kept on improving the typewriter
until he died.[4][5]
