Summary of Case:

 PEMRA on 17.06.2015 issued show cause notice to GEO News for not showing Jammu
Kashmir and Gilgit Balistan in the map of Pakistan during the show “Aaj Shahzaib
Khanzada ke Saath” aired on 27.05.2015. Geo News sends a reply on which PEMRA
dispose off the matter with strict warning.
 Geo channel has also stated that the mistake was rectified when the program was repeated
on the same day.
 Adducing to same mistakes 3 FIRs were lodged against the channel within the territory of
AJK. On basis of FIRs, AJK government has taken coercive actions against the channel.
The home department of AJK has also issued letter dated 26-03-2020 to attach movable
and immovable property of Mir Shakil ur Rehman in Islamabad.
 Mir Shakil ur Rehman has filed the petition to challenge the implementation of the AJK
home department letter dated 26-03-2020.
 Mir Shakil ur Rehman has also stated that because AJK is not included within the
territories of Pakistan and Gilgit Baltistan not mentioned in Article 1 of Constitution of
Pakistan,1973 no order passed by AJK government can be implemented against citizen of
Pakistan residing within Pakistan.
 Moreover, he has also pleaded that PEMRA being the right forum to address the matter
has already passed a decision.
 Hence, he has prayed that no adverse actions shall be taken and restrain Ministry of
Interior , Islamabad for attaching his property in Islamabad.
