Instrument Lesson Plan

Title: Round & Around They Go Grade Level: Kindergarten


Source: ACFTTeacher

Materials needed:
Round & Around They Go recording
Maracas
Tambourines
Hand Drums
Jingle Bells
Hula Hoop

Procedure:

A.S: Listen to the song and pass it around!

1. First, you will introduce the instruments to your students. Name the
instrument, and play the sound it makes.
a. Tambourine
b. Hand drum
c. Jingle Bells
d. Maracas
2. Now, you will introduce the Round & Around They Go song. Play a
little bit of the song, and make sure your students are listening very
carefully to the commands and actions that are in the song (i.e. pass it
around, stop, play).
3. After introducing the song, you will now split your students in groups
of four.
4. After all of your students have been placed into groups, you will place
a hula hoop in the center, and hand out one of each instrument to each
group.
5. Each student in the group will have a different instrument than
everyone else.
6. Now that we have groups and instruments have been passed out, you
will play the recording and the students will play their instruments
when the song says play, stop when the song says stop, and pass it
around when the song says pass it around.
Closure: Review each instrument with the students and review the actions
and commands that were in the song.

Educational Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will have learned how to
improve their listening skills by following along to the song and doing the actions of the
commands that are sung.
