in·year-of two to·Darius the·king in·the·month the·sixth in·day one to·the·month month, in the first day of the
month, came the word of
‫ָהיָה‬ ‫ְד ַבר‬ ‫יְ הוָה ־‬ ‫ְּביַד‬ ‫ַחּגַי ־‬ ‫ַהּנ ִָביא‬ ‫זְ ֻר ָּב ֶבל ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫ֶּבן‬ ‫ְׁשאַ ְל ִּתיאֵ ל ־‬ the LORD by Haggai the
prophet unto Zerubbabel the

ֵ ‫ַהּכ‬ ‫ַהּגָדל‬ ‫לֵ אמֹר‬ : priest, saying,

1:2 ‫ּכֹה‬ ‫אָ ַמר‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְצ ָבאת‬ ‫לֵ אמֹר‬ ‫ָהעָ ם‬ ‫ַהּזֶה‬ ‫אָ ְמרּו‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫עֶ ת‬ ‫־‬

Thus speaketh the LORD

thus he-says Yahweh-of hosts to·to-say-of the·people the·this they-say not season-of people say, The time is not
come, the time that the
‫ּב ֹא‬ ‫עֶ ת‬ ‫ֵּבית ־‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְל ִה ָּבנת‬ : ‫פ‬ LORD'S house should be
built.

Then came the word of

1:4 ‫העֵ ת‬
ַ ‫לָ כֶ ם‬ ‫אַ ֶּתם‬ ‫לָ ׁשֶ ֶבת‬ ‫ְּב ָב ֵּתיכֶ ם‬ ‫ְספּונִ ים‬ ‫ְו ַה ַּביִ ת‬

[Is it] time for you, O ye,
e·oth l·km athm l·shbth b·bthi·km sphunim u·e·bith to dwell in your cieled
?·season for·you(p) you(p) to·to-dwell-of in·houses-of·you(p) ones-being-ceiled and·the·house houses, and this house [lie]
waste?
‫ַהּזֶה‬ ‫ָח ֵרב‬ :

1:5 ‫ּתה‬
ָ ַ‫ְוע‬ ‫ּכֹה‬ ‫אָ ַמר‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְצ ָבאת‬ ‫ִׂשימּו‬ ‫ְל ַב ְבכֶ ם‬ ‫ַּד ְרכֵ יכֶ ם ־ עַ ל‬ :

Now therefore thus saith
u·othe ke amr ieue tzbauth shimu lbb·km ol - drki·km : the LORD of hosts;
and·now thus he-says Yahweh-of hosts place-you(p) ! heart-of·you(p) on ways-of·you(p) Consider your ways.

1:6 ‫ּתם‬
ֶ ‫זְ ַר ְע‬ ‫ַה ְר ֵּבה‬ ‫ְו ָה ֵבא‬ ‫ְמעָ ט‬ ‫אָ כל‬ ‫ְואֵ ין‬ ‫ְלׂשָ ְבעָ ה ־‬

Ye have sown much, and
zrothm erbe u·eba mot akul u·ain - l·shboe bring in little; ye eat, but ye
you(p)-sowed to-cincrease and·to-cbring-in little to-eat and·there-is-no to·satisfaction have not enough; ye drink,
but ye are not filled with
‫ׁשָ ת‬ ‫ְואֵ ין‬ ‫ְלׁשָ ְכ ָרה ־‬ ‫לָ בׁש‬ ‫ְואֵ ין‬ ‫ְלחֹם ־‬ ‫ל‬ drink; ye clothe you, but
there is none warm; and he

that earneth wages earneth
to-drink and·there-is-no to·to-gratify-of to-clothe and·there-is-no to·to-be-warm to·him
wages [to put it] into a bag
with holes.
‫ְו ַה ִּמ ְׂש ַּתּכֵ ר‬ ‫ִמ ְׂש ַּתּכֵ ר‬ ‫ְצרר ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫נָקּוב‬ : ‫פ‬

1:7 ‫ּכֹה‬ ‫אָ ַמר‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְצ ָבאת‬ ‫ִׂשימּו‬ ‫ְל ַב ְבכֶ ם‬ ‫ַּד ְרכֵ יכֶ ם ־ עַ ל‬ :

Thus saith the LORD of
ke amr ieue tzbauth shimu lbb·km ol - drki·km : hosts; Consider your ways.
thus he-says Yahweh-of hosts place-you(p) ! heart-of·you(p) on ways-of·you(p)

1:8 ‫עֲלּו‬ ‫ָה ָהר‬ ‫אתם‬

ֶ ‫ה ֵב‬
ֲ ‫ַו‬ ‫עֵ ץ‬ ‫ּובנּו‬
ְ ‫ַה ָּביִ ת‬

Go up to the mountain,
olu e·er u·ebathm otz u·bnu e·bith and bring wood, and build
ascend-you(p) ! the·mountain and·you(p)-cbring wood and·build-you(p) ! the·house the house; and I will take

pleasure in it, and I will be
‫ְואֶ ְרצֶ ה‬ ‫ּב ־‬ ‫ְואֶ ּכָ ֵבד‬ ‫ְואֶ ּכָ ְב ָדה‬ ‫אָ ַמר‬ glorified, saith the LORD.

ֲ ‫ַו‬ ‫ַה ַּביִ ת‬ ‫ְונָפַ ְח ִּתי‬

Ye looked for much, and,
phne al - erbe u·ene l·mot u·ebathm e·bith u·nphchthi lo, [it came] to little; and
to-face-about to to-cincrease and·behold ! to·little and·you(p)-cbring the·house and·I-blow when ye brought [it] home,
I did blow upon it. Why?
‫ב‬ ‫יַעַ ן‬ ‫ֶמה‬ ‫נְ אֻ ם‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְצ ָבאת‬ ‫יַעַ ן‬ ‫יתי‬
ִ ‫ֵּב‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫הּוא ־‬ saith the LORD of hosts.
Because of mine house that

[is] waste, and ye run every
in·him because-of what ? averment-of Yahweh-of hosts because-of house-of·me which he
man unto his own house.
‫ָח ֵרב‬ ‫ְואַ ֶּתם‬ ‫ָר ִצים‬ ‫ִאיׁש‬ ‫ְל ֵבית‬ :

deserted and·you(p) ones-running man to·house-of·him

1:10 ‫עֲלֵ יכֶ ם עַ ל־ּכֵ ן‬ ‫ּכָ ְלאּו‬ ‫ׁשָ ַמיִ ם‬ ‫ִמּטָ ל‬ ‫ְו ָהאָ ֶרץ‬ ‫ּכָ ְלאָ ה‬

Therefore the heaven
ol-kn oli·km klau shmim m·tl u·e·artz klae over you is stayed from
on·so over·you(p) they-shut-up heavens from·night-mist and·the·earth she-shuts-up dew, and the earth is stayed
[from] her fruit.

1:11 ‫וָאֶ ְק ָרא‬ ‫ח ֶֹרב‬ ‫ָהאָ ֶרץ ־ עַ ל‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ֶה ָה ִרים ־‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ַה ָּדגָן ־‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫־‬

And I called for a
u·aqra chrb ol - e·artz u·ol - e·erim u·ol - e·dgn u·ol - drought upon the land, and
and·I-am-calling drought on the·land and·on the·mountains and·on the·grain and·on upon the mountains, and
upon the corn, and upon the
‫ַה ִּתירׁש‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ַהּיִ ְצ ָהר ־‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ּתציא‬
ִ ‫ָהא ֲָד ָמה‬ new wine, and upon the oil,
and upon [that] which the
e·thirush u·ol - e·itzer u·ol ashr thutzia e·adme
ground bringeth forth, and
the·grape-juice and·on the·clarified-oil and·on which she-is-cbringing-forth the·ground
upon men, and upon cattle,
and upon all the labour of
‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ָהאָ ָדם ־‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ַה ְּב ֵה ָמה ־‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ּכָ ל‬ ‫יע ־‬
ַ ִ‫יְ ג‬ ‫ ּכַ ּפָ יִ ם‬: ‫ס‬ the hands.

and·he-is-listening Zerubbabel son-of Shealthiel and·Joshua son-of Jehozadak the·priest the son of Josedech, the
high priest, with all the
‫ַהּגָדל‬ ‫ְוכֹל‬ ‫ְׁשאֵ ִרית‬ ‫ָהעָ ם‬ ‫ְּבקל‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫יהם‬
ֶ ‫ה‬6ֱ
ֵ ‫א‬ ‫ְועַ ל‬ ‫ִּד ְב ֵרי ־‬ remnant of the people,
obeyed the voice of the
e·gdul u·kl sharith e·om b·qul ieue alei·em u·ol - dbri
LORD their God, and the
the·great and·all-of remnant-of the·people in·voice-of Yahweh Elohim-of·them and·on words-of
words of Haggai the
prophet, as the LORD their
‫ַחּגַי‬ ‫ַהּנ ִָביא‬ ‫ּכַ אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ְׁשלָ ח‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫יהם‬
ֶ ‫ה‬6ֱ
ֵ ‫א‬ ‫יראּו‬
ְ ִ‫וַּי‬ ‫ָהעָ ם‬ God had sent him, and the

Then spake Haggai the

people, saying, I [am] with
‫אֲנִ י‬ ‫ִא ְּתכֶ ם‬ ‫נְ אֻ ם‬ ‫יְ הוָה ־‬ : you, saith the LORD.

ַ ‫יְ הׁשֻ ַע‬ ‫ֶּבן‬ ‫יְ הצָ ָדק ־‬ ‫ֹהן‬
ֵ ‫ַהּכ‬ ‫ַהּגָדל‬ ‫ְואֶ ת‬ ‫רּוח ־‬
ַ ‫ּכֹל‬ spirit of Joshua the son of
Josedech, the high priest,

In the four and twentieth
