Up on starting the Education Technology course I had very little knowledge of the computer. I
was not really a computer literate person and most times just hearing about computer classes
gave me chills. Each day wonder if I would be able to manage the class today or if I would be
able to catch up with my classmates who for the most part, are computer literate or have much
more experience than I have in manipulating a computer. It was very challenging at first given
the fact that I was learning to do many different things with the computer. However, I took each
challenge as a learning experience and with determination and persistence I was able to be
successful in gaining the knowledge and skills I needed to take in the classroom. The Education
Technology course has thought me so many things including how to explore with the computer.
One of the first thing my lecture told the class was to play with our computer and click on stuff
and see what they did before saying we cannot. I took her advice and I realized that she was
right. One of my favorite classes was our second class. In this class we created characters. Some
persons used characters that were already there on a site to say things that we wrote for them to
say, I chose the character Martin Luthor King, just to realize this character say what I wrote was
so exciting because I did not ever think that was possible for a normal person to do. I always
believe that only professionals who were trained could do this, and to know that I could
incorporate these different tools into teaching a class or even for kids at home. This course has
given me the knowledge of the various tools I was not aware of such as to do interactive
PowerPoints, Posters and even create websites that I can now proudly say that I can master.
Learning how to do interactive PowerPoints for kids was another exciting moment for me
because at first, I did not know what an interactive PowerPoint was. This coursework was
challenging for me because we had to do different things in order to make it interactive and
creative at the same time. I got help from friends who were also learning as well but together we
figured it out. I can also say that this course or most courses in the college has thought us to work
cooperatively and as a team. The fact that all students have their own background knowledge and
levels of understanding worked well for us as in most cases one person finds the solution to a
given task and shared with another person and another person does the same so that we could all
be at the same level most times.
As I continue to reflect on knowledge that I have gained from doing this course, and how I am
now a able to actually sit at home and try to figure out things on my own during the time that I
was not at school due to the COVID19 pandemic I can safely say that I have achieved a lot.
Although I am not perfect in doing some things, I am sure I can help myself around most task
given to me because of the confidence I now have and the urge to gain more knowledge on
whatever already have. I am also able apply technology in my classroom to motivate my students
and gain their attention which is likely to change their attitudes towards learning
