-How to use Web service-

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing our products.

This product ("Product") has a capability of TSshield service ("TSshield service(s)").*1 (TSshield service offers both
charged and uncharged services by using cellular phone connection. Please refer below for detail.)
ALL of our customers who bought our product MUST REGISTER before using. These users have to understand
some information that is related this product is collected automatically. This information is used for only supplying
larger support service from Topcon unless your product should be exported, re-exported, transferred or brought
into embargoed countries by EAR. (As of September 1, 2013, the following 5 countries are embargoed by EAR.
These countries may be changed without notice, please refer to EAR.)
- North Korea
- Iran
- Syria
- (North) Sudan
- Cuba

*1: TSshield may not be installed depending on the model or TSshied model may not be available depending on

[User registration]
Before using this product, the customer has to register to our service.
All of the personal information that is registered at registration timing may be supplied to our subsidiaries and our
business partners for only supplying TSshield service from these companies. At the anytime, these information
MUST NOT be used for other purpose and these information also MUST NOT be supplied to another 3rd party.

[What is TSshield?]
TSshield services can offer various services both charged and uncharged based on collecting information from
your Product. TSshield is a name of this service, and you can use the following services, but please note that we
may expand or change our services at any time without any notice in advance to you.
You can access to your dealer or read a product manual for the detailed information.
- Viewing instrument information
- Online upgrading*2
- Security lock/unlock by remote
- Message receiving
- Download Service of Software for the Products
(including without limitation to, program files and language files)*
*2: Any and all software provided under TSshield Service will be licensed only to you, and you must not sell, rent,
lease, sublicense or otherwise dispose whole or part of the software.

1. Collecting information
(1) Kinds of information
We collect information from you that is required to make user registration. We also collect information to
provide you with the TSshield services through our server that automatically gathers information via cellular
phone network from the product you use. The information we collect and maintain may include personal
information about you, as well as following information which is planned to collect as of January 1, 2012:
- Power up date/time
- Power up location
- Shut down date/time
- Status/Error information
Please note that, in the event of any change or expansion in the TSshield services, we may collect and
maintain more information without any notice to you.
If you have any questions regarding collection of information, please contact the dealer from whom you
bought this Product or refer product manual.
(2) Treatment of information
We keep all of information from you in strict confidence, and limit access to the information to our direc-
tors, officers and employees who need to know to provide you with the TSshield services. We maintain
appropriate physical, electronic and procedural safeguards and controls to protect your information. We
use ONLY for providing the TSshield service. We may share the information only with our affiliated com-
panies to provide the TSshield services.
We do not disclose your information to any third party for any reason, except:
- Where such disclosure is required or appropriate pursuant to laws or regulations, including cooperating
with governmental agencies, other regulatory bodies and law enforcement officials, resolving disputes

or performing risk-management functions; or
- Where such disclosure is required or appropriate to perform you with the TSshield services.
(3) Stopping collecting information
If you want to stop to be provided with the TSshield services, we will suspend collecting information and
will retain and use your information only for compliance with regulatory requirements. If you resume being
provided with the TSshield services, we will resume collecting information. ("resume process" may needs
some additional works.) If you want to suspend and resume subscribing the TSshield services, please
contact dealer from whom you bought this Product.
Note: While suspending, you can't use all of TSshield function at all.
(4) Notice of reselling this product
If you want to resell this Product to any other person/entity ("new user"), the registration will not be
assigned to the new user. The new user will be required to make the user registration in its own name. If
you have a plan for reselling, please contact dealer from whom you bought this Product.
When you resell your instrument to the new user, you MUST NOT disclose your ID and password. Please
note that if you disclose this information, the new user can access your personal information. We are not
responsible for such disclosure by you. Please be careful in resale of this Product.

2. Other cautions (Export restriction)


This product includes some technologies that are restricted by EAR (U.S.'s Export Administration Regulations). If
you export your instrument to other country, you need to perform any procedure for export required by EAR. In this
case, you must perform any procedure by yourself. As of September 1, 2013, following countries need additional
procedure. These countries may be changed without notice, please refer to EAR.
- North Korea
- Iran
- Syria
- (North) Sudan
- Cuba

These commodities, technology or software were exported in accordance with applicable export control laws and
regulations. Diversion contrary to those laws and regulations, as well as the export laws and regulations of any
countries of reexport, is prohibited.

In consideration for its purchase of commodities, technology or software from Topcon, Purchaser agrees that it will
determine any license requirements to export the items and, as applicable, to re-export or transfer the items,
obtain any license or other official authorization, and carry out any customs formalities for the export or re-export of
the items. Purchaser agrees that it will not reexport or transfer the commodities, technology or software to Cuba,
Iran, North Korea, Syria or Sudan without a license or other authorization from all applicable export control author-
ities. It is also unlawful to receive, use, transfer, or re-export these items to persons on all applicable restricted
party lists (see e.g. http://www.bis.doc.gov/index.php/policy-guidance/lists-of-parties-of-concern and
http://eeas.europa.eu/cfsp/sanctions/consol-list_en.htm), and http://www.meti.go.jp/policy/anpo/law_document/tut-
atu/t10kaisei/130830kaisei_userlist_kohyo.pdf) where prohibited, or to use these items in activities involving mis-
siles or unmanned air vehicles, nuclear explosive devices or nuclear propulsion projects, chemical or biological
weapons, or any other prohibited end-use prohibited (see e.g. http://www.access.gpo.gov/bis/ear/ear data.html)

It is a violation for this product to be exported to the above-mentioned terrorist supporting countries. If we find your
product is located in any of the above E:1 Terrorist Supporting Countries via TS Shield tracking monitor, we shall
notify this fact to the relative government agencies. Unless you have obtained the required export license from the
appropriate agencies including the US government, in order to comply with export control laws, we may be forced
to remotely shut-down this product. This procedure would be considered justified to maintain international security
and you have no right to make a claim for the shut-down of your instrument as far as you read and agreed with this
software license agreement.

In addition, there are some countries that prohibit bringing out of positioning data from these countries. As of Sep-
tember 1, 2013, following countries need additional procedure.
Prohibit to bring out location data from country
- China
- Oman

If you need to bring your Product in these countries, you have to suspend or stop to be provided with the TSshield
service. There may be more strict restriction in some countries. You have to research by yourself.
If you want to suspend and stop to be provided with the TSshield services, please contact dealer from whom you
bought this Product.

About this instruction manual
• This instruction manual covers the operating method of functions provided in the TSshield Web site.
• For safety precautions and instructions for use of the instrument and how to operate other modes, refer to the
instruction manual of the instrument.

Symbols
The signs/marks as shown below are used in the instruction manual.

[CNFG] : Indicates softkeys of the instrument and buttons on a PC.

{ESC} : Indicates operation keys on the instrument

<WLAN settings> : Indicates screen titles

 : Indicates precautions and important information which should be read

Precautions
• When you use the TSshield Web site, use the latest version of a browser supporting HTML5.0.
• If the old information remains on the browser in use, it may not be updated to the new information, causing the
website to appear garbled or distorted.
In that case, follow the procedure below to reload the page.
For Windows (Internet Explorer): "Ctrl" +"Refresh (F5)"
For other browsers, see the Help of the browsers.

Backing up data
• Data should be backed up (transfered to an external device etc.) on a regular basis to prevent data loss.

• The user of this product is expected to follow all operating instructions and make periodic checks (hardware only)
of the product’s performance.
• The manufacturer, or its representatives, assumes no responsibility for results of faulty or intentional usage or
misuse including any direct, indirect, consequential damage, or loss of profits.
• The manufacturer, or its representatives, assumes no responsibility for consequential damage, or loss of profits

1.TSshield O V E R V I E W
TSshield is a cloud-based information management service. It collects various information from your
instrument and provides you with a range of support to ensure you can use the instrument safely.

This allows us to send update information to you when the software embedded in your total station is
not up-to-date, and also allows you to see various information about your instrument purchased via
your dedicated web site.


・ To use TSshield, it is necessary to create an account of TSshield and register a user for an instru-
ment.

2 .C REATION OF A CCOUNT AND U SER R EGISTRATION
To use an instrument you have purchased, it is necessary to release the demo mode of the instrument
after registering a user in TSshield.

2.1 Customer who signs up for the first time


When you use TSshield for the first time, carry out creation of an account of TSshield and registration of
user of instrument.


・ When you use the TSshield Web site, use the latest version of a browser supporting HTML5.0.
・ If you have an account already, you can register the newly purchased instrument with your
account.

Creation of account and user registration

1. Access the TSshield Web site


Access URL shown below.

Change the display language


・ When you use this Web site, please be sure to read the disclaimer on the lower part of the screen.
・ You can change the displayed language from "Language" in lower right of the screen.

2. Start the registration
Click [New Registration].

Check the displayed content. You can go to the next step by clicking [I ACCEPT THE AGREE-
MENT].

3. Input the e-mail address


Input the e-mail address and click [SEND].
The e-mail on which URL for actual registration is described will be sent to the e-mail address you
input. Please access the URL described on the e-mail.


・ The e-mail will be sent from tsshield@tierraservice.com. If you restrict the reception, carry out the
setting to enable the reception of e-mail.

4. Input your information
Input the information required for creating an account and click [Next].


・ Items with "*" mark are compulsory input.
・ The e-mail address can be automatically input (cannot be changed).

 Password
・ Password should be at least 8 characters and can be up to 32 characters in length.
・ Password should include both characters (alphabetic letters and symbols) and numbers.
・ The same string of a whole e-mail address or former part of the address cannot be used for pass-
word.
・ Keep the registered password by yourself.

5. Input the information of instrument.
Input the information required for registration and click [NEXT].


・ Model name, serial number (S/N), and ID code will be displayed by turning ON the power supply of
instrument.
For an instrument that has no display unit, the information of the instrument is described in the
exhibit "Instrument Information" included with the product.

6. Check the content you input


If there is no problem in the input content, click [CONFIRM].

7. Completion of registration
Customer ID and activation code will be displayed on the screen. At the same time, an e-mail on
which activation code is described will be sent.


・ At the lower part of the screen, a sample of character (number/alphabet) will be displayed. Com-
pare the mistakable characters with the sample.

Release the demo mode

This product is operated in demo mode until user registration is finished. The demo mode can be
released in two methods; release by performing communications from instrument to server (online acti-
vation) and release by inputting the obtained activation code in the instrument (offline activation).


・ If the condition of signal is not good and you cannot conduct the online activation, conduct the
offline activation.
・ The operation procedure shown below is described with an example of a representative product
with a display. The procedure for a instrument that has no display unit is different.
 For details on the method for releasing the demo mode, refer to TSshield instruction manual for
each product.

2.2 Registration of user of instrument (if you have an account)
If you have an account, you can log in to the system for a new instrument with the existing account.

1. Log in to the TSshield Web site


 "3.1 Login"

2. Click [New Registration]


<New Regstration> is displayed.

3. Input the information of instrument


Input the purchased instrument information.


・ Model name, serial number (S/N), and ID code will be displayed by turning ON the power supply.
For an instrument that has no display unit, the information of the instrument is described in the
exhibit "Instrument Information" included with the product.

4. Completion of registration
Press [OK] after inputting the information.
The activation code will be displayed on the screen. At the same time, an e-mail on which activation
code is described will be sent.

5. Release the demo mode


Release the demo mode of the instrument.

3.L O G I N /L O G O U T
To use the functions of TSshield, log in to the TSshield Web site.

3.1 Login


・ An account of TSshield is required for using TSshield.

Input the registered e-mail address and the password, and press [Login].

 When you forget the password: "7.2.Changing the Password" : If you forget your password

If you log in the Web site, the screen shown below is displayed.

3.2 Logout

Click " " in the upper right of the screen and select "Logout".
If the logout processing is finished, the screen returns to the login screen.

4 .SETTING OF AN INSTRUMENT TO BE DISPLAYED
TSshield displays the instrument information you purchased on the main screen (hereafter, "dash-
board"). With the dashboard, you can check the status of each instrument and operating place at once.
On the dashboard immediately after login, all instruments for which a user has been registered are dis-
played.


・ An instrument you have purchased cannot be displayed on the dashboard without conducting the
user registration. "2.2.Registration of user of instrument (if you have an account)"

4.1 Selecting an instrument to be displayed on the dashboard


An instrument meeting the search conditions you set in all instruments is displayed.

Search an instrument with keyword


An instrument which includes the serial number or model name you set is displayed. Input the
text in the search bar and press " ".

Search an instrument with combined more than one conditions
Choose the conditions from the following items to search and display an instrument meeting the
search conditions.

1. Press [Instrument Selector]


<Instrument Selector> is displayed.

2. Setting the search conditions


・ Series name (selected from list)
・ Model name (selected from list)
・ S/N (serial number)
・ Setting (Normal/Lock/Chasing)
・ Version (Latest/OLD)
・ Total hours (set a time range)

3. Press [Search]
The searched instrument is displayed.

Page size


・ The maximum number of instruments to be displayed on one page is set from "page size".

Register an instrument in "Favorites (personal list)"
If you press " " on the left side of the model name to set it to ON ( ), the instrument is
registered in "Favorites". If you press it again, the instrument is set to OFF ( ) and the
registration is released.

Display the instrument registered in "Favorites"

If you press " ", the extraction result of instruments registered in "Favorites" from the
instruments displayed on the dashboard is displayed.

While "Favorites" is displayed, the button is displayed as " ". If you press this button, the
extraction is released.

4.2 Changing the display format

If you select " "/" " in the upper right of the screen, the display format of dashboard can be
switched to outline view or list view.


・ The information displayed on the dashboard is shown below.
Basic information (model name, serial number, etc.)
Security setting: "5.3.Checking the security setting"
History information (total operating time of instrument, etc.)
Software version: "5.2.Checking the software version"
Position of instrument: "5.1.Checking the position of an instrument"

Outline view

This is the display format immediately after login.


The outline of instruments is displayed with icons of instruments in an easily viewable manner.
If you press [More Info], the display is switched to detail view.
"Detail view"


・ If you click the positional information, the position of the instrument (position where communica-
tions were performed finally) is displayed on the map.
"5.1.Checking the position of an instrument"
・ If you place the mouse cursor on the button displayed with "Version", the label is changed to
[Display].
If you press [Display], you can check the software version of the instrument.
"5.2.Checking the software version"
・ If you place the mouse cursor on the button displayed with "Setting value", the label is changed to
[Set].
If you press [Set], the security setting of the instrument can be changed.

List view

With the list view, more instrument information can be displayed on a screen. As the list can be sorted,
this function is convenient for managing a lot of instruments.
If you double-click the list, the display is switched to the detail view.
"Detail view"


The target range of following functions is only the instrument currently displayed on the page.

・ Displays the index in a fixed manner


・ Groups the list
The number of instruments that can be displayed on one page can be changed by "Page size".

Scroll the list with a designated row locked

・ If you click the index " (pin mark)" to set it to ON, the row of the index is moved and fixed to the
top. Even if you scroll the list in a traverse direction, the row is always displayed and the list is dis-
played in an easily viewable manner.

・ The index of the fixed item becomes blue.


・ More than one pin mark can be set.

Sort the list
If you click the index of an item you want to set it as a reference, the sort is executed.


・ If is displayed for the referential index, the list is displayed in ascending order. If is dis-
played, the list is displayed in descending order. Every time when you click the index, ascending
order and descending order are switched.

Group the list


If you drag and drop the index of the referential index to the area on the list, the grouping of the
list is executed.

More than one referential row can be set.

If you want to delete the referential row, click [x].

Detail view

The detailed information of an instrument is displayed.


You can check the information of an instrument or change the setting from here.

If you want to see the previous display, click .

5.M A N A G E M E N T OF INSTRUMENT

5.1 Checking the position of an instrument


If you select [Map] from the left menu, the display is switched to the map display. On the map, the posi-
tion of an instrument displayed on the dashboard is displayed.

Side panel
If you click the tab ( ) on the right side of the map, the side

If you click the tab ( ) while the side panel is displayed, the side panel is hid-
den.

Display the detailed information of an instrument


If you click an icon of an instrument, the detailed information is displayed. If you click [x], the dis-
play is closed.

Select an instrument at the same place


If there is more than one instrument at the same place, the number of instruments may be dis-
played on the icon. In that case, click the icon. The place is enlarged. If you click an icon of an
instrument, you can select an instrument individually.


・ If you place the mouse cursor on an icon of an instrument, the serial number is displayed.

Check the position of the specified instrument

You can check the position of the specified instrument on the map from dashboard or side panel.

Specify the position from dashboard

If you click " (balloon)" on dashboard, the selected instrument is displayed in the center of
the map.

Specify the position from side panel

Click the tab " " on the right side of the map to display the side panel. On the side panel, the
instrument same as that of dashboard is displayed, so you can select the instrument without
returning to the dashboard.

If you press " ", the extraction result of instruments registered in "Favorites" from the
instruments displayed on the side panel is displayed.

While "Favorites" is displayed, the button is displayed as " ". If you press this button, the
extraction is released.
If you press "Instrument Selector", instruments to be displayed on side panel and dashboard can
be reselected.

5.2 C h e c k i n g t h e s o ft w a r e v e r s i o n
You can check the software version of an instrument selected on the dashboard.

Check the version

If you press [Display], the installed software version and the released software version can be
checked for each type of software.

6.S E C U R I T Y F U N C T I O N
TSshield has security functions: lock mode and chasing mode.

・ In lock mode, it is possible to lock the instrument which is mislaid or lost by remote control on its web
site. It prevents the instrument to be used without the owner's permission.
・ In chasing mode, the interval for updating the positional information of an instrument displayed on the
dashboard gets short. You can comprehend the positon of an instrument when you have it stolen.

6.1 Setting the Instrument to Lock Mode

1. Display <Instrument page>


If you place the mouse cursor on the button displayed at "Setting" of dashboard, the label is changed
to [Set]. Press [Set].

Or, press [Set] from "Instrument Settings" of detail view.

2. Change the settings


Select "Lock" in "Settings" and select an item in "Reason". Press [OK] to complete the lock setting.

Select "Chasing" in "Settings" and select an item in "Reason". Press [OK] to complete the lock

・ Location information of the instrument is renewed as follows.


Normal mode :24 hours
Chasing mode :1 hour
・ To unlock chasing mode, it is necessary to restore the instrument to normal mode on the website.

・The instrument consumes more energy in chasing mode than in normal mode.

Press [Set] in "Instruments Settings" in the screen to display <Instruments Settings>.
Select "Normal" in "Settings".
Press [OK] to complete the setting.

・ The instrument will be returned to normal mode when it is rebooted.

7 .DISPLAYING AND CHANGING USER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

7.1 Confirming the Registered User Information


Registered user information can be confirmed and changed through the following procedure.

1. Display "My Web User Profile"


Select "My Web User Profile" or "My Company Profile" from " " in the upper right of the screen.
The registered information is displayed.

2. Change the contents of registration


Make necessary changes to the information and press [Save].
The information will be updated next time you log in.


・ If you shift to other screen without pressing [Save], the changed content is cancelled.

7.2 Changing the Password

1. Display "My Web User Profile"

3. Set the password


Input an old password and a new password. Next, input the new password again and check it, and
then press [OK].

Enter the new password to log in on the Login screen.


・ If you have got some verification codes, use the latest code.
・ Password rules: " Password"

If you forget your password
If you forget your password for login, you can change it with the following procedures.

1. Display <Password Recovery>


Press [Forgot your password?] on the Login screen.

2. Input registration information


Check either "E-Mail" or "User code (Customer Code)". Then enter the registration information of
checked item.

Pressing [OK] issues a verification code to the registered e-mail address.


・ Your customer code is included in the registration confirmation mail sent to you after user registra-
tion.
・ As an e-mail containing the verification code is sent from tsshield@tierraservice.com, if you have
set the restriction on receiving e-mails, change the restriction setting.
・ If you already have a verification code, click the link "If you have verification code, please click this
link." to go to step 3.

3. Set the password
Enter the verification code contained in the e-mail, and enter a new password. Then enter the new
password once again, and press [OK].

Enter the new password to log in on the Login screen.


・ If you have got some verification codes, use the latest code.
・ Password rules: " Password"
