One-point perspective

Course: Exploratory Art Grade Level: 9-12

Lesson Occurs in Unit: One-point perspective

LESSON TITLE: Road to no where

Short Description/Goal Students will create an artwork that demonstrates the


understanding of one-point perspective.

Essential Question Where in the universe do you see one-point perspective. How do
artists use one-point perspective in art to give a drawing a 3D
element?

Acc.VA:Cr2.1: Through experimentation, practice, and


Strand/ Standards persistence, demonstrate acquisition of skills and knowledge in a
ART/ELD chosen art form.
Prof.VA:Re7.2: Analyze how one’s understanding of the world is
affected by experiencing visual imagery.

Student Objectives Learn the basics of one-point perspective and have a drawing the
diminishes of into the distance. Students will also learn the history
of how drawings and painting used to be flat and how one-point
perspective came about.

Assessment

Students will have a packet with different worksheets on one-point


Informal perspective.

Student Self- Students will re-work the worksheets after they have received
Assessment feedback. After they finish the students will drawing their name in
perspective for more practice.

Formal Assessment Final road to nowhere with a matboard finish.

Rubric Objective: Practice using one-point perspective by drawing a


landscape using the rules of one-point perspective.

Directions: Use only PENCIL for number 1-6


1. Use 8.5” x 11” paper horizontally
2. Draw a horizon line 2.5 down from the top.
3. Place a vanishing point on the horizon line.
4. Use the rules of perspective to draw 2-4 buildings.
5. Use the rules of perspective to draw 3-5 trees in a row.
6. Do something with the sky- clouds, birds etc.
7. Go over everything in sharpie.

Extra credit: Shading/color

and draw their name before their final road artwork.

PHASES OF THE LESSON


Hook Show examples of my work and students past work. Also show a
video on elaborate examples of one-point perspective and how
they could turn this into an architect job.

Adaptations or The red is the change in the rubric.


Modifications Objective: Practice using one-point perspective by drawing a
landscape using the rules of one-point perspective.
