Annual School Sports Day

The Annual School Sports Day was inaugurated by the principal in the
Assembly Hall at 9:00 a.m. today. The function began with the principal
hoisting the school flag, and then gave a speech. This was followed by a
welcome address by the vice principal, thanking all the guests, parents and
students for gracing the occasion and participating. The Games were then
declared open by the Chief Guest — the Honourable Governor. The
inaugural function was well attended, and ended on time. The principal
then invited everyone to help themselves to refreshments and enjoy the
sporting events. At 9:30 a.m., the Sports teacher announced the schedule
and agenda for the day and gave instructions to each class about their
allotted places in the grounds.
The Sports Day had several categories of events lined up for sports lovers.
All the events were scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with
lunch served in a central marquee (tarpaulin tent) just outside the Assembly
Hall, so that large numbers of people could dine at the same time. The first
set of events was Athletics with track and field events: the 100, 200 and
400 metre races on the Race Track, pole vault and javelin throw on the far
end of the track, and high jump and long jump events on the inner field.
These events ran from 10:00 a.m. until noon, so that other events could be
organised without delay. The days being shorter in the winter now, the
school took care to organise the games well within daylight hours.
The principal organised the events in such a way that all the spectators
could watch all the events, both indoors and outdoors. Athletics was
followed by team sports — football, basketball and handball. The finals of
these three sports were played between 12 noon and 2:00 p.m. in the Mini
Field, and people were free to bring lunch from the marquee and have it on
the grounds on the condition of no littering.
The last set of events was indoor games — table tennis, badminton and
chess, which were organised in the school’s Indoor Hall. The table tennis,
badminton and chess games were played one after another, from 2:00 p.m.
until 4:00 p.m.
The day went smoothly, with no major hiccups and just ten minutes of extra
time. The prize distribution ceremony was held right after the events were
over and lasted from 4:00 p.m. until 5.30 p.m. The Chief Guest, who had
graciously stayed for the entire day, was called upon to award the winners
of the various events. In the closing ceremony, the principal first declared
the Games closed, and then asked the Honourable Governor to both
announce and distribute the prizes to the winners. The ceremony was held
in the Assembly Hall so that all the attending parents could proudly watch
their children walk up to the dais to receive their prizes. The Chief Guest
then thanked the organisers, participants and spectators for making the day
a success, and admitted that he had enjoyed himself more than he had
expected. The school authorities thanked the guest on behalf of everyone,
and with this, the Annual School Sports Day came to an end.
Annual Day Report
Annual Day forms an integral part of our school activities.  It is an occasion
of celebration, felicitation, feast and festivity when students present not only
their wonderful performances but also receive honours for their curricular
and co-curricular achievements.
The Annual Day 2010 was woven around the theme ‘PRATIBIMB’ and the
Prize Distribution was entitled ‘HARMONY’.
Mr. R. P. Mittal, IPS, IGP, Zone-II, Jalandhar graced the occasion as the
Chief Guest for the Cultural Show – PRATIBIMB. Mr. Vinay Bublani, PCS,
Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar was the Chief Guest for
the Prize Distribution function.
The functions were presided over by honourable Vice President (Apeejay
Education Society), Mr. Yash Raj Aggarwal. The other dignitaries present
were Mr. Vinay Raj Aggarwal, Secretary (Apeejay Education Society) and
various members of Board of Governors.
Principal Mrs. Madhu Sharma extended a warm welcome to all the
dignitaries present. Talking of the theme of the Cultural Show –
PRATIBIMB, she expressed that FEMALE FOETICIDE was the greatest
menace of the present century. She articulated that each member of the
society has to take a strong decision to fight against this evil and welcome
the birth of a girl child. The one–hour long Cultural Show held the audience
in awe and left them enlightened as the show culminated. The journey of a
girl child from an unwanted thing to a celebrity in the society was depicted
through a blend of drama and dance. The satire on the thought - process of
humans by the animals and the depiction of dreams and desires of an
unborn girl was an eye-opener for the audience.
The Chief Guest Mr.R.P. Mittal was all praise for the show. He
congratulated the school for taking such an edifying topic which requires a
quick moral action on everybody’s part.
The Annual Prize Distribution function was a moment of pride and honour
for all the winners and achievers of the school. The students were awarded
prizes in the Academic as well as Co-Curricular areas. The function
included Saraswati Vandana, Orchestra by the students and Fusion Dance.
Principal Mrs. Madhu Sharma extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries
and presented the Annual Report.  She read out the achievements of the
school – both Academic and Co-curricular and wished success to the
students who could not make up for the prizes.

Report on educational Excursion

Educational excursions not only enhance the knowledge of the students but

also broaden their outlook towards the outside world. It is for this reason
schools conduct educational excursions to educate the students about
things that are beyond the text books. Our school also
organizes educational excursions in Bengal every year to make us aware
about the richness of our state in terms of biodiversity, culture and tradition.
This year an excursion was organised to Sunderban, the home of the Royal
Bengal Tigers.

I had always desired to visit the forest and experience its beauty and
serenity. So I was quite thrilled when I came to know about the Sunderban
excursion. This trip was for two days and was organized by three of our
geography teachers for students of class 8 to 10.

We began our excursion on 19th of December. We were thirty students and

our three teachers assisted us for this educational excursion in Bengal. Our
bus left from school at 7.30 am in the morning and reached Gadkhali ghat
(around 112 km from Kolkata) at about at 3 pm. From Gadkhali ghat we
took a launch to reach Pakhirala, a village in the Gosaba Island. It was a
two-hour ride and the journey was captivating. The scenic beauty, the birds
and the greenery all around enthralled us. We reached Pakhirala in the
evening and checked into the hotel that we had reserved in advanced for
our educational excursion.

Next day we boarded a launch to begin our excursion to the forest. We first
reached Sajnekhali, which is situated on the other side of Pakhirala. Here
we had to obtain our entry permit to the forest. After obtaining the
necessary permit we visited the Sajnekhali Museum and the Mangrove
Interpretation Centre. We also went up the watch tower for a bird's eye
view of the forest. I managed to see some deer and Brahmini Kites under a
nearby bush with the help of my binoculars.
After Sajnekhali we visited Dobanki and Sudhanyakhali. We had to travel
by motor-launch to reach these points. During our launch ride we saw
some marsh crocodiles basking in the sun on one side of the bank. We saw
the mangrove trees that we had only read about in the books. The most
amazing moment was when we spotted a Royal Bengal Tiger, who was
quietly basking in the sun amidst the mangrove trees. We clicked
photographs to capture the wonderful moment. We were thrilled by this.

We stayed in the Sunderbans for one more day and then returned to

Kolkata. This excursion was really informative and taught me about the
beauty and importance of silence. It also taught me to love and care for
nature. I truly loved this educational excursion and am keenly looking
forward to the next educational excursion.

Circular
A) Yearly information

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 8th grade. My name is Mrs. V and I have been teaching

Science in Newton Public Schools for over 10 years.  I look forward to
helping your child excel and reach his potential.

My goal as an educator is to guide your child toward academic success

and to help build critical thinking skills that will help him blossom into
adulthood.  I will do my part to inform you when your child isn't working to
his potential and/or involvement in disruptive class behavior.  I am
dedicated to the well-being of your child and I need your cooperation
in helping him reach his potential.  Please feel free to contact me at
the school number 123-456-7890 or by email v@parentteacher.com
with any concerns regarding your child's academic success.  The
best time to reach me are: ______________.

We will be working on these curriculum units during the year: _______.

The texts we will use are: ____________. Some textbooks will remain in
the classroom.  Therefore, your child will be required to keep a notebook
or binder containing notes and other assignments to help prepare for
homework and exams.  Tests will be given weekly on vocabulary,
diagrams, investigations, and content.   Labs will be conducted three days
a week.  Please help your child prepare for these assessments and sign
all that are sent home and return with your child the next day.

Please help your child purchase the following materials for class:
pencils, eraser, binder or notebook, glue, colored pencils, and ruler.  The
binder or notebook will have five sections and they should be labeled
using tabs or dividers accordingly: Tab 1 Class work, Tab 2 Homework,
etc.  The binder/notebook is 20% of your child's grade.  Therefore, it
should be organized and assignments should be complete.  Please check
your child's binder/notebook weekly and feel free to reach me with any
concerns.
The grading system is as follows:
20% Exams (unit test, vocabulary, diagrams)

20% Open Response

20% Binder or Notebook Test

20% Class work (investigations, participation)

20% Homework

Your child will have homework each night and will receive a progress
report every two weeks, on a Friday, if he is below a C average.   The
progress report allows me to communicate to you what your child is either
missing or needs to improve before the term ends.  I expect your child to
come to class with materials ready to learn.  Please encourage your
child to be consistent and responsible for a successful school year.

Dear Parents:

I am your child’s 5th grade teacher, and I am delighted to have your child in
my class this year. I am looking forward to a very successful year and I
know you are too. I have high expectations for your child and I will do all
that I can to help your child achieve those expectations.

You can help. I will be expecting all work assigned in class to be

completed. Of course, all children do not work at the same pace. Some
children will get their work done in class and some will not. Whether or not
your child gets his or her work done in class has no effect on their grade. If
your child does not complete an assignment in class, he or she will be
required to complete it at home. The way you can help is to ask your child
every school day if schoolwork needs to be done, and if so, make sure your
child completes the assignment.

In addition, I will be assigning projects in various subjects throughout the

school year. Projects are to be completed at home. Your help and support
will not only make your child more successful in school this year but will
instill good study habits that will last a lifetime.

Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is
to keep the lines of communication open with you. I am available every day
to talk with you between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and between 3:30 p.m.
and 4:00 p.m. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 123-456-7890 ext. 674
or joe.smith@anyschool.k12.wi.us if you have any questions or concerns
during the year.

Sincerely,

XYZ

B) Road Safety workshop for parents

28 February 2020
For the attention of parents of all FHS students
Dear Parent Road Safety You may be aware that Formby High
School is participating in a Formby wide initiative led by Andrew
Drewary of Road Safety Smart to improve the safe use of all roads in
our community and we will continue to support this initiative in
whatever way possible.
Thank you to those parents who engaged with the recent workshop
delivered by Andrew Drewary and who have committed to be
involved with Road Safety Smart as this project develops. Through
the project, Andrew Drewary will be delivering a road safety
awareness session to our Sixth Form students who are either
learning to drive or have passed their driving test. This will take place
on Wednesday 11 March.
As part of our commitment to road safety, I would like to emphasise
that we continue to experience considerable safety concerns around
the school entrance due to congestion caused by vehicles dropping
off and collecting students at the start / end of the school day. I would
like to repeat my appeal to all parents to support us in promoting the
safety of all our students and school community in the following ways:
Encouraging your child to walk or cycle to school (particularly as the 
weather begins to improve).
Dropping off / picking up further away from the school campus
(ideally beyond Rosemary Lane / Old Town Lane) to avoid this
dangerous congestion. Considering residents, pedestrians and other
road users when parking. For those of you who have a child who
drives to school, discussing with him / her safe driving and parking
practice. Your support with this is very much welcomed by both
members of the school community and our local neighbours. I am
enclosing with this letter a copy of Road Safety Smart’s first
newsletter.
Yours sincerely

Discipline, Suspension and Expulsion

A) Being Consistent

Teachers,

This morning at (time), I noticed several students (event or problem). This

morning's situation is symptomatic of the growing problem of students
being in the hallways between 8:00 and 8:30 without our permission. These
students probably thought with all the activity going on they would not be
missed from their home base. Please take the steps necessary to make
sure your students are all accounted for at 8:00 A.M. each morning and are
where they should be. I am sending a discipline report to the parents of
each of the youngsters involved in this morning's episode outlining the
consequences their child will face. If any of these students were from your
home base, please offer support by following through on the appropriate
course of action listed in our discipline code. As I mentioned several times
over the last 9 weeks of school, our students have generally been very well
behaved. The reason for their good behavior has been the parameters we
established and enforced. We can't become lax in holding students
accountable for their behavior. If we do, we are asking for problems.

Please review all of our agreed upon rules with your students and hold
them accountable for their behavior. I will help in any way I can.
Consistency is the key operational word. Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

XYZ

Fighting on the School Bus

Dear Mr. & Mrs. (names),

I am writing to follow-up on our conversation of this morning. If you recall,

we discussed (name) general behavior and more specifically the incident of
fighting on the bus yesterday. Due to the seriousness of the incident, it is
necessary to suspend (name) from school on (dates). The official reason
for the suspension is fighting.

When he returns to school on (day) morning, I would like to speak with him.
Please have him report to the office when he arrives.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,

XYZ

Truancy Letter to Parents

Dear Mr. and Mrs. (name):

State law requires that every boy and girl attends school each day that
school is in session. Illness is a legitimate reason for absence.

As you know (name) has had (number of days) unexcused absences this
semester. I have talked with (name) on (number) different occasions
informing him/her that school must be attended regularly. I am asking you
to see that (name) arrives at school each day. If he continues to be illegally
absent, I will have no recourse but to take legal action for violation of the
Compulsory Attendance Law.

Your assistance in this situation will be appreciated.

Sincerely,

XYZ

Notice of Expulsion to Parents

SERIOUSNESS OF STUDENT EXPULSION

Due to the seriousness of student expulsion, all written correspondence to
parents should be very precisely worded. The parent/s must be informed
of:

1. The Action Taken Against the Student.

2. Parent and Student Options in the Matter

* * YOU SHOULD SEEK ADVICE FROM YOUR DISTRICT SOLICITOR

BEFORE WRITING TO PARENTS CONCERNING STUDENT
EXPULSION.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. (name):

I am writing to inform you that our discipline committee has found your child
(name) guilty of violating school board policy regarding (offense). School
board policy calls for your child's expulsion from (school name) for the
remainder of the first semester. Our board policy also requires that I should
advise you in writing that there is a grace period of ten school days in which
you may appeal the decision. There are two options for you to consider:

(1) You may ask for a hearing to be held before the full board of school
directors. At this hearing all facts of the case will be restated. If you do not
contest the facts that are presented, your other option is

2) to appeal the penalty. The board will also grant a hearing on that matter.
If you wish to have either type of hearing, you must send me a letter
requesting such a hearing within ten school days of receiving this letter. If
you request a hearing, you will be advised by phone of the date, time and
location of the hearing.

Sincerely,

Pending Disciplinary Action: Non-Professional Employee

Dear (name of non-professional employee):

Over the past three weeks I have received reports from Mr. (name), our
Director of Maintenance, stating that your work has been unsatisfactory.
You were directed on (date) to scrape the paint from the locker room walls.
The job sheet clearly indicated that the project should have been done by
(date), since painters were to start on the locker rooms on (date). I
inspected the locker room and found your job had not been completed. The
painters arrived as contracted and, as a result, were paid for doing
absolutely no work. In addition, I now find that I am over budget for this
project. Mr. (name) tells me that this quality of work (or lack of work) has
been typical of most jobs you were assigned since you started here in
September. Unless you can show significant improvement in your work
performance, I will have to take the necessary steps, as outlined in our
contract, to terminate your employment with us. I will be personally
monitoring your work closely over the next month and will meet with you on
(date) to hold an evaluation conference. If you would like to have a union
representative in attendance at that meeting, please feel free to do so. I
have enclosed a copy of the job sheet. You are directed to complete the job
by 3:30 pm. tomorrow, (date).

Sincerely,

XYZ

Teacher Absenteeism

Dear (teacher's name):

Our records show that you have been absent on the following (number)
days since school opened in September: (list of days). As you know, I
talked with you on (number) occasions after your return from a day of
absence. Each time your responses were vague and unsatisfactory. The
frequency and pattern of your absences makes it necessary that I request a
physician's verification of your stated illnesses. This practice is supported
by (cite contract article, page #) of our contract. I need not remind you of
the negative effect of excessive teacher absenteeism on students. I feel
your teaching performance is satisfactory, but unjustified absenteeism can
adversely affect your end of the year teacher rating.

Very truly yours,

XYZ

Student Suspension for Smoking

Dear Parent:
Your child, (name), was sent to my office today for smoking in the
bathroom. The offense occurred at (time and day), at which time (name)
should have been in (subject) class. As you know, this is not (name)'s first
violation of the smoking regulations. As you may recall, I spoke to you on
(date) after (name) was caught smoking in the locker room. At that time
(he/she) was given a verbal warning and told that I would not permit
repetition of this behavior. Our Discipline Code calls for a two-day
suspension in this situation. (name) will be suspended from school on
(date) and (date). It is required that one or both parents accompany the
student on the day of (his/he) return. Readmission is dependent upon your
arrival at school with (name). Please phone my office to arrange for the
readmission conference.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely, Principal
