Airman Compressor RPM Issue Fix

The air pressure would rise but the engine RPM would not increase on an Airman 11276 compressor. After disassembling the starting unloader valve, it was found that the regulator diaphragm was damaged. Replacing the diaphragm resolved the issue with air pressure but not engine RPM. Further disassembly showed the speed regulator diaphragm was also damaged. Replacing both diaphragms allowed the compressor to operate correctly.

Problem/ Complaint

Air pressure & engine rpm dose not raise.

Symptom

When starting the engine & unloading valve on position. But air pressure raise & engine rpm does not raise.

Troubleshooting /Service Step

. We check the M/C when starting the eng 7 unloader valve on position. But air pressure raise & engine rpm does not
raise. So we disassembly the starting unloader valve. Found that starting unloader regulator diaphragm was damage.
We changed it & reassembly the starting unloader regulator. We test run the M/C. But machine is not OK because
engine rpm does not rise. And then we disassembly the speed regulator. Found that it’s diaphragm was damage. We
changed the speed regulator diaphragm. Then reassemble the speed regulator. We test run the machine. It was OK.

Analysis

This problem can be occurred.

(i) Unloader regulator diaphragm is damage. (Air pressure raise & engine rpm does not raise).

(ii) Butterfly valve is not seat.
