Background of USTP:

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) is a state


university system established on August 16, 2016 by virtue of Republic Act 10919 through the
amalgamation of the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Cagayan de Oro
City, Misamis Oriental and the Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology
(MOSCAT) in Claveria, Misamis Oriental. Both campuses are located in Northern Mindanao, the

Weekly Training Reports

ANGELES, SETH COURAGE H.

APRIL 15-17, 2019

WEEK 1

1ST Day of week 1

On the 15th day of April, our OJT began. OJT is a program in which it enhances the student’s

abilities in his/her field. As an electrical engineering student, I am quite excited about this

program. As an Aspiring future electrical engineer, I am excited to learn new things in line

with my course. Though I’m a bit late on taking my OJT, because I can’t take it last year

because of some circumstances, I am still very happy and excited about it. During the first

day, we didn’t had that many work. Instead, we had a long orientation about the OJT.

Orientation is a must for us first timers because we need to learn the do’s and don’ts’. After

the orientation, I am quite excited to apply all the things that I’ve learnedin the days to come.

2nd Day of week 1

During the second day, Engr. Orniel Delos Reyes continued to discuss about some things.

Engr. Orniel then gave us a task to work. And that task is to create an as built plan on the

buildings located inside the school. The buildings that we have to create an as built plan were

narrowed down. It was narrowed down because some of the buildings in the school was

under renovation or under demolition. After finalizing upon what buildings to work on. We,

the OJT members decided to divide the buildings equally so that the work will be faster. And

so, we divided it so that every each and every one of us will have a task to work on
3rd Day of week 1

On this day we have prepared a letter requesting for us to enter and inspect buildings. The

letter was made to let us inspect the building without the supervision of the coordinator or

instructor in all of the classrooms including the laboratory and even the offices. But before

that we needed the signature of the dean and the chairman with that regards so that instructors

in offices or rooms would truly be convinced that we’re not fooling around. The groups work

was made simple because of the help of our classmates. Our classmates gave us floor plans

on building they’ve worked for before. That made our job easier because we wont be making

floor plans anymore, instead we only need to inspect the electrical layout of the building they

gave.
WEEK 2

1st Day of week 2

During the 1st day of the second week. The group gathered files and documents on the

buildings that we lack. The group started to inspect and layout the building that doesn’t have

a floor plan. First the group inspected the building 5. The group checked each and every room

located in the vicinity. Though there are rooms that are locked, the group still continued their

work. The group also measured the floor area of the building by manual measuring. The

group used a measuring tape for the task. It took a lot of time on measuring the buildings

floor area. The group needed to measure if for them to create a floor plan on the said

building.

2nd Day of week 2

During the 2nd Day of week 2, I started to plot the datas we gathered on the first day in the

autocadd. While some of my members continued the work that was not made on the first day.

It consumed quite a lot of time because I did not know that the pc’s located in bldg.. 43-701

were deep freezed. The work ive started during the morning was deleted because the pc’s

were turned off. The group made little progress. 4th Day of week 2 The group inspected the

building 24. The group checked each and every room located in the vicinity. Though there

are rooms that are locked, the group still continued their work. The group also measured the

floor area of the building by manual measuring. The group used a measuring tape for the task.

It took a lot of time on measuring the buildings floor area. The group needed to measure if for

them to create a floor plan on the said building.

5th Day of week 2


During the 4th Day of week 2, I started to plot the datas we gathered on the third day in the

autocadd. While some of my members continued the work that was not made on the third

day. The building was quit hard to make. Its quite hard to make its floor plan because the

design of the building is quite complex inside. But at the end of the day, the group managed

to create the floor plan of the said building.

6th Day of week 2

The group inspected the building 28. The group checked each and every room located in the

vicinity. Though there are rooms that are locked, the group still continued their work. The

group also measured the floor area of the building by manual measuring. The group used a

measuring tape for the task. It took a lot of time on measuring the buildings floor area. The

group needed to measure if for them to create a floor plan on the said building.
WEEK 3

1st Day of week 3

During the 1st Day of week 2, I started to plot the datas we gathered on the 5th day in the

auto cadd. While some of my members continued the work that was not made on the third

day. The building was quit hard to make. Its quite hard to make its floor plan because the

design of the building is quite complex inside. But at the end of the day, the group managed

to create the floor plan of the said building.

2nd Day of week 3

The group polished the building that they worked on. Building 5, 24 and 28. The group put

the layouts on the plates. The group also created theschedule of loads on the said buildings,

riser diagrams and location of the buildings. During the day, Engr. Orniel Delos Reyes visited

us and taught us some auto cadd techniques. Especially layering. It made our future jobs

easier. What we have been doing in the past days were manual and sir taught us a faster way

to achieve our goals. 3rd Day of week 3 During the 3rd day of week 3. The group decided to

polish the ICT building. The design of the lighting layout and convenience layout is quit

outdated. The group changed the layout of the building because it is quite messy. It took quite

a lot of time because the work was like we were making a new plan and layout. The group

also created a floor plan on the 5th and plotted the lighting layout and convenience layout.

4th Day of week 3

In continuation of the 23d day work we do some changes in the AutoCAD file we got

because we have seen many error on it, to be specific there are symbols that are not right and

the drawings were not proportionate so we came to clean it up and then but before that we
decided that I’ll be working on the first floor and floor and my classmate will be on the third

and fourth floor.

5th Day of week 3

Still working on the building 9 – ICT its quite time consuming, on this day also we have gain

the other buildings specifically building ITB, building 41, 42 and 43. My whole classmate

decided to help on the inspection on the building 41 because the building is indeed big and

requires a lot of man power and work on the whole after schedule all we did was an

inspection of the whole building.

Week Three: Who at your workplace do you particularly admire or lookup to?

What attributes does this individual exhibit that you appreciate or aspire to?

Answer: I admired all of my group mates because they exhibit an objective oriented traits that

they will finish to a specified timeframe they have set for themselves to work on, this Is a

good trait for it help us to be more productive and create more progress.
WEEK 4

1st Day

Amid this day, We completed an assessment on structure 41 on this day, we checked each

floors which lighting is connected to the switch and counted how many lightings and also the

convenience outlet. Despite everything we can't check the panel boards for the single line

diagram because the electrical room In which the panel board is located is locked and there’s

no in-charge nearby. The group also tried top got to the office where electrical technicians by

stand.

2nd Day

On Tuesday, the group continued the inspection on building 41 because the group conducted

their inspection on Monday in the afternoon and the was not enough to cover more grounds,

so the group continued on inspecting each room and it’s not that easy inspecting each rooms

because there are rooms that are being use and we cannot disturb their class so the group

skipped the room that are being used and the group decided to proceed to the next one.

3rd Day

The group was still working on the inspection on the building 41, we are now inspecting the

rooms that we are unable to check on Tuesday. We can now check the rooms now because

there is no class during this time and this gives us the opportunity to do more progress and

then we finished the inspection on each of the rooms by the afternoon, but unfortunately we

haven’t check the electrical rooms because again the door is still closed and we need

assistance to electrical in-charge. During this day, Sir Orniel Delos Reyes taught us about

what Ampere trip to use, what wire to use and what conduit to use

4th Day
We have finally checked the electrical rooms on building 41 but all we can do is take a

picture of the panel boards and its label because we cannot do some troubleshooting or major

inspection because there’s no in- charge electrician that we can ask question to. All we could

at this time is do the electrical layout.

5th Day

There’s nothing much we can do at this time though we have a letter that could let us do

inspections but we really need an electrician that knows a lot on this field, so we go the office

of the electricians if there’s someone could help us the inspection because we badly needed

one. We are still waiting for their response about it so we could more work. The group then

decided on the afternoon to visit sir Allan in the LRC to seek assistance and guidance,. But

after which, the office of sir Allan is close by that time

Week Four: What kinds of technical and management strategies does this organization make

use of? Do you feel these are effective? How could they be made more effective?

Answer: Nothing much on the management strategies in the organization because they let us

do anything as long it is for the OJT and in technical term is that the instruction are clear

when it comes to the things we need to learn and it is very effective because the things that

were instructed to us is essential in practical. In terms of technical, we are hands on onn our

job. We are the ones who visit and check every electrical layout in the school. This gives us

more experience for us to use ibn the near future.


WEEK 5

1st Day

On this day we simply keep doing the structure of our assigned structure on the

grounds that the circuit tester still isn't accessible as of now in light of the fact that the he

needs to do his significant work first before he could engage us, we let him be for the time

being on the grounds that we need his help and helping us could take much time in light of

the fact that there are loads of structures that needs review too.

2nd Day

At long last, the circuit repairman is currently accessible and could now enable us to

do a few investigations on certain structures, so we go again help assessing the structure 41

likewise called the science complex structure in light of the fact that my colleague who is

relegated on that building has a few questions that should be routed to keep cleaning the old

electrical plan which is made by our cluster mate when that we proceed with our own

assigned structures.

3rd Day

It's the third day now of fifth seven day stretch of our OJT, what we did today is that

we examination on the structure 28 called the old science building and it is the structure I'm

appointed with, however there's and old electrical arrangement on this structure yet it is an

out-dated plan so it needs all the more cleaning the assessment is immediately completed on

the grounds that there aren't that quite a bit of burden in the structure yet there are a few

changes on it since it was revamped as of now.


4th Day

With respect to me everything I did on this day is proceeding with my cleaning my

assigned structure so I can complete the undertaking rapidly and for my different colleagues

some of then some investigation and some is doing some exploration identified with our

errand.

5th Day

We proceed with the examination on the structure 41 what we did is that we go

upstairs we the engine of the lift is found the spot is difficult to go up in light of the fact that

the stairs is so steep the circuit repairman instructed us to be progressively cautious while

assessing the rating of the engine of the lift for it may drag us down with it unintentionally.

Are there strategies used that you think are particularly helpful in motivating people? What

strategies might you suggest to improve employee morale?

Answer:

Our boss dependably persuades us to accomplish more and do our best not simply we have an

errand and afterward go along it for consistence however do our work do it wholeheartedly in

light of the fact that this is our calling sometime and should we'll to adore it as of now, there's

not a lot I could state about the techniques on the grounds that the methodology of our

manager is compelling for the present.
