At the end of 45 minutes, the students should be able to achieved 75% to atleast 85%
proficiency in the following:
• identify the materials and tools in making an extension cord
• execute on how an extension cord is done
• construct extension cord for future use

Materials and Tools: PowerPoint Presentation, white board and marker,
Convenience outlet (surface type duplex), Flat Cord #18 AWG, Male Plug,
Standard/ Flat Screw Driver, Philips Screw
Driver, Long Nose Pliers, Side Cutting Pliers, Electrician’s Knife/ Pocket Knife,

B. Motivation
The students will solve a puzzle in the form of a maze. Trace the path from origin
going to the point of destination. Along the right path, the students will encounter
a letters. Use these letters to find the exact word/s. The first two students who
solved the puzzle will get a prize.
C. Lesson Proper
Using PowerPoint presentation, the teacher will discuss the materials and tools
needed in making an extension cord.

2. Philips Screw Driver
3. Long Nose Pliers
4. Side Cutting Pliers
5. Electrician’s Knife/ Pocket Knife
• The teacher will demonstrate how to make an extension cord Procedure:
1. Gather all necessary materials and tools.
2. Insert cord into the male plug, split the cord wires about 8 centimeters long.
3. Remove insulation of both wires 1 centimeter long with a pocket knife as if
sharpening a pencil. Be careful not to cut any strand.
4. Scrape bare wire with the back of the knife until shiny. Twist the wire stands.
5. Make a loop on terminal wires and connect the wires to the screw of the male
plug.
6. Split the cord wires at the other end about 4 centimeters long, then follow
procedure no. 4.
7. Tie the underwriter’s knot
8. Open the convenience outlet then remove the screw.
9. Make a loop on terminal wires and connect the wires to the screw of the
convenience outlet
10. Insert the screws, tighten it and return the cover.
11. Test the extension cord.

1. Performance test
The teacher will group his/ her students into five. The students will play a relay by
following the procedure on how to make an extension cord.
