The Gingerbread Man
One day an old woman made a
gingerbread man. He had a face,
two arms and two legs. She put it
in an oven.
Suddenly, a little voice said, “Let
me out, let me out!” The
gingerbread man jumped out and
ran away.
The old woman and her husband
ran after him and shouted, “Come
here! Come here!”
But the gingerbread man sang,
“Run, run, run, as fast as you can.
You can't catch me. I'm the
gingerbread man!”
The gingerbread man met a cow.
“You look good to eat,” said the
cow.
But the gingerbread man sang,“
Run, run, run, as fast as you can.
You can't catch me. I'm the
gingerbread man!”
The cow could not catch him.
Then, the gingerbread man met a
horse. “You look good to eat,” said
the horse.
But the gingerbread man sang:
“Run, run, run, as fast as you can.
You can't catch me. I'm the
gingerbread man!”
The gingerbread man was proud.
“Nobody can catch me!” he
thought.
Next, he met a fox. The fox said,
“You look good to eat.”
The gingerbread man sang again,
“Run, run, run, as fast as you can.
You can't catch me. I'm the
gingerbread man!”
The fox was very fast.
The fox followed the gingerbread
man to a river.
“I want to help you to cross the
river,” said the fox to the
gingerbread man.
“Jump on my tail so, you don't get
wet!” said the fox.
The gingerbread man and the fox
crossed the river together.
The fox said, “Can you sit on my
back? You are too heavy for my
tail!” The gingerbread man sat on
the fox's back.
Then the fox said “Can you jump
onto my nose?” The gingerbread
man jumped onto the fox's nose.
Suddenly, the fox threw the
gingerbread man up in the air!
The fox opened his mouth and ate
him in a big gulp.
“Hmmm… Yummy! You are
delicious, gingerbread man!” the
fox said.
This is the end of the gingerbread
man.
