SJKCJJ - Pet E-Book

The document discusses the importance of protecting the environment. It notes that nature provides humanity with valuable natural resources and it is important to protect it. However, irresponsible behavior like littering and pollution are harming the environment. This causes issues like climate change, melting ice caps, rising sea levels and more frequent flooding that negatively impact both wildlife and humanity. Furthermore, unchecked development is reducing biodiversity as animals lose habitats and some species even face extinction. The conclusion calls on people to appreciate what the Earth provides, stop destructive behaviors and protect the environment for future generations.

Environment – A treasure to be protected

Mother nature, a mystery and noble thing that provides us a peaceful place to live, provide us with
elements and substances to a better living. She gives us natural resources such as petroleum, woods
and many more. It is so beautiful that various creatures could be found and there are so many things
about her yet to be discovered.
Nowadays, issues regarding our beloved mother nature could be heard everywhere as she is
said to be ill, badly ill. Activities and programmes have been carried out to raise awareness of public
towards the importance of our environment. People are talking about protecting the Earth. However,
how many of us really practise it in daily life? And why we need to protect our environment?

Irresponsible people aften throw waste everywhere. From the

For a better tomorrow. tourist spots such as famous beaches, well-known landmark
Free from pollutions. squares in town, we could see that rubbish is everywhere after the
people left. Even though rubbish bins are provided, yet we
humans, for the sake of our conveniences, just simply throw the
unwanted things from where we are. Without knowing, those
rubbish causes various pollutions such as land pollution and water
pollution.
Those pollutions not only harmful to the animals but also
the human beings. For instance, water pollution could bring death
to the marine life as they are forced to survive in the environment
with full of toxic. Even if they manage to survive, they are
consuming the toxic created by human beings. The toxic will
finally back to human when we catch and consume the marine life
which known as seafood and they are pretty welcomed by most of
the people. Consequently, humans are harming themselves when
polluted the environment. To stop the bad cycle, we should
protect the environment and stop polluting it.
Earth is in fever!
“Switch on the air-cond!” , “It’s burning hot!”. Yes, you hear that. We all hear that
everyday and everywhere. Do you know why is it so? During the old days, our
grandparents’ eras, why they do not need air-condition as we do today? Why they
can walk under the sun without the feeling of burning? If you notice, some of our
grandparents’ old houses does not even have a ceiling fan. However, our house, we
need air-condition, badly needed. Some of us could not have a good sleep without
air-conditioner. This situation is due to the raise in temperature which also known
as climate change.
Articles and news reported that the icebergs are melting from time to time.
The increasing in temperature causes the melting in the polar regions. The melting
of ice creates a series of negative effects to our environment such as the rise in
water level and loss of habitats for the animals in polar regions. Warm temperature
destroys their homes and makes them unable to survive.

Do you realise the melting of ice also brings

negative effects to human? Flood cases are reported in
several places in our country. Recently, Pulau Langkawi
was affected by serious flood and the victims are forced to
move to the relief centres. They lost their properties in this
nature disaster. Humans are now facing the consequences
of deforestation and some other environment spoiling
actions. Dear human, its time to awake and stop the
foolish act.
Biodiversity is in
danger!
Biodiversity is a term referring to the living creatures on Earth. This
includes humans, animals, plants and other living things. Damages in
environment results the lost of habitats for these creatures especially
animals. Humans’ activities such as uncontrolled lodging cause the
animals to reduce in their numbers. Some creatures extinct as they lost
their habitats. They hardly adapted to the rapid changes in
environment. This could be clearly seen in the articles about the
extinction of dinosaurs.
At the same time, the animals are hunted by humans
uncontrolled. They are hunted for trading purposes. As a result, their
numbers reduce and finally brings them to extinction. For instance,
researches shown that dodo birds extinct due to the lost of habitats and
killed by human. Humans killed them for their meat and eggs. Our
turtles are facing the same problems recently. Their eggs are collected
for selling. If these situations do not stop or overcome, our future
generations would not be able to see real turtles anymore. Just like us.
Younger generations have no chance to see dodo birds anymore. What
a sad case!
The extinction of animals and destroy of plants cause the
imbalance in ecosystem. The food web is facing great problem when
one of the stages is destroy. This could cause the imbalance in the
numbers of preys and their predators. For instance, if the illegal
lodging keeps continuing, the predators like tigers will extinct. The
extinction of tigers will lead to the increment of numbers in their preys
like rabbits or other herbivores which used to be the food for tigers.
The increment in the number of herbivores will then cause the drastic
deduction in the number of the food sources for the herbivores such as
plants. Thus, stop hunting, stop buying, stop the imbalance!
Home Sweet Home!

Why people call the Earth as mother nature? It is simply because Earth provides us with
various nature resources which is vital and useful in improving our living quality without
asking any payback. She gives us air to breath in. She gives us food to sustain our lives. We
could not survive without anyone of these. And not to forget, the nature medicine, herbs,
that we use to cure our sickness or wounds are from the Earth too. She acts like a mother,
giving us the best of her selflessly just to ensure we have a better place to live.
Thus, we should not simply cut down the trees. If we simply destroy them, it is no
different as we kill our doctors and destroy the hospitals. We could be said as ignorant when
we keep destroying the environment as we will lose the most valuable treasure forever
which given by the mother nature.

Conclusion
The Earth gives us so much as mentioned above. As a payback, we should do
something to show our appreciation towards her. We should not simply cut down
the forests, damage them. We must stop all the ignorance acts which could pollute
and which are harmful to environment. Bear in mind that what we do, will come
back to us one day. We protect the environment not only for us ourselves, but also
our younger future generations. They will appreciate and thankful to what you have
done today. It’s time for us to take up the responsibilities in each of us. Play our part
and do our best.

The Earth is not only a planet, but our home.

Let’s protect the environment for a better tomorrow.
