ISSUES ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION:
Nature has provided us with necessary things in order for us to live. This
includes the air, water, land, sunlight, minerals, plants, and animals. All these
things given by nature make our earth a place worth living. Life on Earth would
not be possible and would not exist without any of these. As the nature helps
us in many ways, do we even help our nature in return? As the human
population continues to increase, survival needs also increases. Humans will
be the one responsible for conserving the nature so that it would not replenish
and continue to be available in abundance. Conservation of nature means the
preservation of forests, land, water bodies, and minerals, fuels, natural gases,
etc. Life would not be imaginable without air, water, sunlight, as well as other
natural resources on earth. Thus, it is essential to conserve these resources in
order to retain the environment integral.
Environmental issues are very common nowadays. Examples are water
pollution, air pollution, land pollution, climate change, deforestation, scarcity on
the natural resources and the likes. Pollution is the presence of harmful
materials into the environment and these harmful materials are called
pollutants. Pollution can be natural but, it can also be created by human
activities, such as smoke-belching vehicles, burning coal, burning plastics or
dried leaves, smoke from factories, homes that generate garbage and sewage,
hunting wild animals, using pesticides, etc. These human activities really
contribute to the destruction of our nature. Another environmental issue that
we are experiencing is the climate change. Climate change is the changes in
the usual climate of the planet. Climate change is observable when the
weather of the earth is not balance. Deforestation is the permanent removing
of the trees to clear the land area to be used for agriculture, for constructing
building, etc. Scarcity on the natural resources means that there is a lower
supply of natural resources to be used by the people or any other organisms.
This is caused by the too much use of these natural resources. All living things
depend on the natural resources provided by the earth, so when these
resources are polluted and destroyed, all forms of life are threatened.
Despite these environmental issues that threaten our mother earth, there
are things that we can do to help conserve our nature. It’s not too late yet for
us humans to preserve our natural resources. Let’s start it with ourselves.
Discipline among ourselves will be the first thing that we should be doing. We
should throw our garbage in the right bin, practice waste segregation, and
plant trees. These are just few of the things that we can do to conserve the
environment, but what makes it difficult for us to put these into a consistent
practice? Why don’t we take it seriously? Well, if the people don’t act soon, it
will lead to an increase in natural disasters, rising sea levels, and extreme
weather, resulting in collapsed ecosystems, mass extinction of wildlife, food
scarcity and global displacement of people. Remember that it is us who will
suffer our wrong doings. While, we can still help our nature, we can do some
voluntary environmental conservation programs such as clean and green.
Each person should be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their
place. If the people will not obey, a fine or punishment should be imposed to
them. Each one also should be required to plant trees as part of their
responsibility to their country. And since our place is very prone to landslides
and other calamities, these trees will really help to lessen its effects especially
to the humankind. The government should also implement rule wherein all of
the wastes or garbage should be recycled and reused except of course for
those decaying materials. Similarly, this program can also provide livelihoods
to the people since they can sell the recycled materials to other places or other
countries.
These simple programs will greatly contribute to our life particularly it will
improve the health of the people. Most noteworthy, saving environment would
reduce many diseases. Saving environment would also protect the animals.
Extinction of many species will be avoided so many species would also
increase in population which will then result to balance in our ecosystem.
In conclusion, nature is a precious gift that we received in this planet. Saving
the earth is a need. Someone said that, if we take care of nature, nature will
take care of us. We should act as the stewards of mother earth, because no
one has the capacity to do that except us.
