IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson
Watch Out: Video clip “True Colors” from the movie “Trolls” will be played.

Now, let the students do an oral recitation by answering the ff. questions:
1. What does the video tell you?
2. How do characters on the video change?
3. Based on the video, how do colors change the mood of the characters?
4. What does the line “Your true colors, True colors are beautiful, like a
rainbow” mean?
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
Presentation of the objectives.
Who Am I. The letters R, O, Y, G, B, I, V will be posted. Solicit answers from the students
for the ff. questions:
Who among you are familiar to these letters? What is it?
Have you seen a rainbow?
What does each and every letter stands for? Name them.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson
Pose the motive question, “How are you going to address change?”
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1
Matching Vocabs: Let the student pick a paper and read the sentences with the italic
word. Have them choose the meaning on column B on pp 462-463. Tell the learners to take
note of the italic words and its meaning since it will be found on the reading selection.
Literary Exploration: Before moving on the literary text, introduce first what a parable
is.

Stop. Look. Listen: A PowerPoint presentation will be shown by slides while the story is
being narrated by the teacher.
Twisted Comprehension Check: A box will be passed by the teacher. The song “True
Colors” will be played while the students continue on passing the box. If the music stops,
whoever holds the box will get a piece of paper containing a question and read it. The man on
his right will be the 1 to answer it.
Who are the characters in the story?
What happened to the colors in the story?
What is the brightest and most striking color that implies courage,
bravery and love?
What is the color that signifies health and strength?
What is the color of gaiety and warmth that exemplified by the
sun?
F. Developing mastery
Banana Peel: Five pieces of paper where questions are written will be crumpled into an
elongated one and shall be handed by the teacher. The students must imagine it as a banana.
Whoever holds the banana the moment the teachers says stop, he/she will peel it, read the
question and answer.
What is the color that symbolizes life and provides thrives in the fields and the forests?
What is the color that represents patriotism that stands in the depths of feelings and
extensive spaces?
What color has the largest area in the world and embodies thoughtfulness?
What is the color that epitomizes royalty and power?
Why do you think rain emphasized the need of cooperation?
G. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson
Yey or Nay: Write Yey if the statement is true and if the statement is false, write Nay and
change the word that will make the statement correct.
Green symbolizes life, thrives in the fields of greenery. _________

H. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily living
Reflect to Appreciate: The teacher will be raffling the names of the students. Whoever’s
written on the paper will be called to choose a color and answer the corresponding question
related to the theme of the selection, “The Parable of Rainbow Colors”.
RED- If you were one of the colors, what would you be? Why?
ORANGE- Is it okay to be different? Why?
YELLOW- How will you defend yourself from being belittled in the
GREEN- How will you anchor your strengths to a broadened?
BLUE- Why does a rainbow represent hope?
INDIGO- Why cooperation is important in a team?
VIOLET- How will you encourage others to cooperate in societal activities?
I. Evaluating learning
Preserving the Magic: Divide the class into three. The teacher will be distributing rolled
papers where each is randomly written with numbers 1, 2, and 3. Let them have a name for
their group
Group 1: Sing a Song of Empowerment
Through a song, give an advice to those persons who have doubts in their hearts. Raise their
spirits to pursue their dreams using your persuasive words/lyrics. Sing the song to the class.
Group 2: Construct a Slogan
Reflecting on the theme of the parable, construct a slogan that will encourage the humanity to:
a. Not lose hope in times of hardships and challenges.
b. Cooperate and collaborate in order to achieve better outcomes.
c. Accept inevitable changes and use them for self-development.
Group 3: Illustrate a Poster
Using the theme, cooperation, as your guide, create a rainbow poster that will show the
significant qualities of your group mates. Draw a line showing the division of the rainbow into 2.
Check if the 7 layers of the rainbow are properly divided. For every layer, a characteristic will be
shown. Since the rainbow is partitioned into two, on the left side, write the characteristic of
each rainbow color. On the other side, the corresponding qualities of the group members
should be present.
J. Additional activities for application or remediation
Assignment:
Make a five sentence paragraph that answers these questions: If you were the author,
would you change the ending? What changes would you do with the story?
