Technical Data: Oryx Wash Primer

Oryx Wash Primer is a two-pack etch primer based on modified polyvinyl butyral resin that provides excellent adhesion for galvanized, non-ferrous metals to improve adhesion of subsequent coatings. It is recommended as an etch primer for aluminium and galvanized metals, and also adheres well to brass. The primer has a dry film thickness of 8-10 microns per coat and spreads between 25-20 square meters per liter. It dries to a greenish-yellow color with 20% solids and can be applied by brush, roller, or spray methods.

non-ferrous metals, for better adhesion of subsequent coatings.

Recommended use

As an etch primer for aluminium and galvanized metals. Also has good adhesion on brass metal. Recommended for low dry film
thickness application for better performance.

Film thickness and spreading rate

Film thickness, dry (μm) 8 - 10 Microns/Coat
Film thickness, wet (μm) 40 - 50 Microns/Coat
Theoretical spreading rate (m²/l) 25 - 20 M2/LTR

Physical properties
Colour Greenish - Yellow
Solids (vol %)* 20 ± 2%

*Theoretically calculated: Low VOC product.

Surface preparation
It can be applied directly over intermediate coat or primed substrate. Galvanized steel, aluminium and other light metal alloys
should be etched or wash primed before primer and undercoat application.
