Be Sensible
BALANCING FAITH, EMOTIONS AND REASON
IN THE MIDST OF COVID19 OUTBREAK
Did He bring the
COVID-19 pandemic
upon the world?
What does the
pandemic tell us
about God?
Sincerity is
admirable, but
sensibility is a must.
Job lost almost
everything.
What will you say
to Job if you are his
friend?
When they saw him from a
distance, they could hardly
recognize him; they began
to weep aloud, and they tore
their robes and sprinkled
dust on their heads.
JOB 2:12 (NIV)
Then they sat on the
ground with him for seven
days and seven nights. No
one said a word to him,
because they saw how
great his suffering was.
JOB 2:13 (NIV)
Consider now: Who,
being innocent, has ever
perished? Where were
the upright ever
destroyed?
JOB 4:7 (NIV)
As I have observed,
those who plow evil
and those who sow
trouble reap it.
JOB 4:8 (NIV)
Surely God does not
reject one who is
blameless or strengthen
the hands of evildoers.
JOB 8:20 (NIV)
If iniquity is in your hand, put
it far away, do not let
wickedness reside in your
tents. Surely then you will lift
up your face without blemish;
you will be secure, and will
not fear.
JOB 11:14, 15 (NIV)
(1) God sends calamities upon
wicked people only.
(2) You have suffered a calamity.
(3) Therefore you must be
wicked.
The LORD. . . said to
Eliphaz the Temanite, "I am
angry with you and your two
friends, because you have
not spoken the truth about
me, as my servant Job has.
JOB 42:7 (NIV)
God allows evil, but
He is never the
author of it.
It was generally believed . .
. that sin is punished in this
life. Every affliction was
regarded as the penalty of
some wrongdoing, either of
the sufferer himself or of
his parents.
ELLEN WHITE, DA, 471
It is true that all suffering
results from the
transgression of God’s
law, but this truth had
become perverted.
ELLEN WHITE, DA, 471
Satan, the author of sin and
all its results, had led men to
look upon disease and death
as proceeding from God, as
punishment arbitrarily
inflicted on account of sin.
ELLEN WHITE, DA, 471
Hence one upon whom
some great affliction or
calamity had fallen had the
additional burden of being
regarded as a great sinner.
ELLEN WHITE, DA, 471
The Lord said to Satan,
“Very well, then, he is
in your hands; but you
must spare his life.”
JOB 2:6 (NIV)
God has a reason for
everything, but we
don’t know everything.
Then the Lord spoke to
Job out of the storm. He
said: “Who is this that
obscures my plans with
words without knowledge?
JOB 38:1, 2 (NIV)
Brace yourself like a
man; I will question
you, and you shall
answer me.
JOB 38:3 (NIV)
“Where were you when
I laid the earth’s
foundation? Tell me, if
you understand.
JOB 38:4 (NIV)
Who marked off its
dimensions? Surely you
know! Who stretched a
measuring line across it?
JOB 38:5 (NIV)
Have you ever given
orders to the morning, or
shown the dawn its place,
that it might take the
earth by the edges?
JOB 38:6, 7A (NIV)
Who provides food for the
raven when its young cry
out to God and wander
about for lack of food?
JOB 38:41 (NIV)
He knows!
He orders!!
He cares!!!
Satan is using evil to
destroy you, but God
is using it to save you.
Then Job replied to the
Lord: “I know that you
can do all things; no
purpose of yours can be
thwarted.
JOB 42:1, 2 (NIV)
You asked, ‘Who is this that
obscures my plans without
knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of
things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to
know.
JOB 42:3 (NIV)
My ears had heard of
you but now my eyes
have seen you.
JOB 42:5 (NIV)
Therefore I despise
myself and repent in dust
and ashes.
JOB 42:6 (NIV)
Although Satan has
misinterpreted God’s purposes,
falsified His character, and
caused man to look upon God
in a false light, yet through the
ages God’s love for man has
never ceased.
ELLEN WHITE, MANUSCRIPT 25, JAN.
9, 1890
Christ’s work was to reveal the
Father as merciful,
compassionate, full of
goodness, and truth. The
character of Christ represented
the character of God.
ELLEN WHITE, MANUSCRIPT 25, JAN.
9, 1890
Rejoice with those
who rejoice; mourn
with those who mourn.
ROMANS 12:15 (NIV)
Sometimes, the best
thing to say is
nothing.
