Poverty affects the life of the poor.
A poor person is not able to take proper food &
nutrition and his capacity to work reduces. Reduced capacity to work further reduces his income,
making him poorer. Resulting to some of them may involve in crimes like theft, murder, robbery,
etc. They end up doing something unethical and immoral things for money.
Here we go with Pedro's wife, Ofelia, who sold her kidney for 50 thousand. I say, it is not
ethical to sell your organs. Kant mentioned that a person’s selling one of his internal parts is
always wrong, apparently because this action fails to express proper respect for the seller’s own
dignity. The action always sends a false message, Kant seems to have believed that the seller
himself has a mere price. And I do agree. It is argued that organ selling violates human dignity. It
is argued that allowing the practice of organ selling inherently runs the risk of promoting the
notion that some persons have less worth than others and that persons have a price, which is
incompatible with dignity. It could be said that organ selling would be inherently seen as
degrading because violations of bodily integrity are inherently seen as degrading.
Poverty is not a reason to sell your organs. As the Filipino saying goes "Lahat ng
problema may solusyon." There's always a way, lots of ethical ways. Many successful people
were from extremely poor situation before, yet look at them now. Many are from rags to riches.
It just depends on how you sees the situation. "It is better to find your courage to make changes
when you can choose to rather than being forced to. If you do not make change, change will
make you" (Roy T. Bennett). Indeed, you can never make a change unless you take the initiative
to do so. You need a positive mindset and a self confidence. Get what you want not the easy yet
dirty way, but through the difficult but clean way. Most of all, you also need the presence of the
Creator. Prayer is a powerful thing.
Our lives our priceless, our bodies our priceless, our organs are priceless. They are
created by the own hands of the Lord God for free, who are we to give price to it. Let poverty not
the reason to degrade or give price to your body, nor any other aspects. We must be stewards of
our body for we are the stewards of God's creations, and we are His creations as well.
