Special education teachers use different technology devices for the students. Assistive technology
helps those students with mobility, hearing, or vision impairments. Technology has opened many
educational doors not only to general ed students but also to children in special education. It has
given teachers the chance to accommodate students with technology. As future teachers it is
important to know about all these different technology devices to be able to accommodate our
students. Not all Special education students are the same therefore, they will all be using different
devices and it is our responsibility to know what is out there and how to operate them.

Abstract: Discusses the use of computer-assisted instruction with multimedia for people with
disabilities. Considers the needs of children with disabilities and learning difficulties, and presents an
example of a voice-assistant system for blind people. Further applications are also discussed. (LRW)

Using technology devices provides students in special education to fully participate in the
classroom. Technology helps teachers provide great learning tools for all learning abilities. For
example an Ipad has many features that can benefit many children in special education. It can help
students read, write and communicate with others. While some students have the ability to read,
write, or see there are some who are not able to do these things. Using technology can help these
students participate in the lesson differently from the others. As a future special education teacher I
would never not include students because of their disabilities.

Abstract: This session presents how to incorporate different types of technological equipment while
working with children with multiple disabilities. The usage of technology gives children with
disabilities opportunities to fully participate in all classroom activities. The equipment includes
augmentative communication devices, smartboards, ipads and computers.

Assistive technology is important for ELL students in the classroom. As a future teacher I am pretty
sure I will come across many ELL students. Technology may help English language learners get a
better understanding of what they are reading. It is important for teachers to make sure these
students are comprehending what they are reading because if they are not then there is no value.
Assistive technology can also help teachers understand the progress of a student and it also helps
guide them towards future efforts. ELL students should get all the help they need to be able to
participate in the class and succeed.
