PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS: This pattern is written ABBREVIATIONS:
using American terminology and is worked in continuous
rounds unless otherwise stated. If Clara is made using BLO = back loop only | ch = chain | dc = double crochet

the materials described, she will be ~ 12 cm / 4.75 dc-inc = double crochet increase | dec = decrease |

inches tall from the top of her bun to her feet. If her FLO = front loop only | hdc = half double crochet |

Nutcracker prince is made using the materials described, inc = increase | rnd = round | sc = single crochet |

he will be ~ 11.5 cm / 4.5 inches tall from the top of his sl st = slip stitch | st = stitch

A very quick guide to the crochet stitches used in this
pattern in alphabetical order:
SKILL LEVEL: Beginner
1. Chain (ch): Insert hook, yarn over, pull loop through
loop on hook.
MATERIALS REQUIRED (descriptions in brackets

Starting with a long yarn tail, ch 23 to create the hat


band. Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail to sew the hat
band to the hat later.

ASSEMBLY OF THE NUTCRACKER PRINCE

1. Sew the body to the head with whip stitches.

2. Sew the arms to the body between Rnd 11 and 12 of


the body, 5 st apart in the front.

3. Sew the yellow hat band over Rnd 20 of the hat such
that it is centred above the “beak/bill” of the hat
(Picture 11).

4. Place the hat over the Nutcracker Prince’s head, I


push the middle of the top of the hat inwards
towards the top of his head once it is on. This is so
that the top of the hat curves in towards the middle
