EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
All rows are knitted (1 ridge = knit 2 rows).
DIAGRAM (for scarf):
Diagram A.1 shows the parts the scarf is made up of and which direction they are worked.

START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle and is sewn together mid back to finish.
HAT:
Cast on 80-84-88 stitches with 1 strand Delight and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) with circular
needle size 4.5 mm. Knit 1 row (= wrong side). Then work rib as follows:
From the right side: Knit 1, * purl 2, knit 2 *, work from *-* and finish with knit 1.
From the wrong side: Purl 1 * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* and finish with purl 1.
Work this rib until the piece measures 16 cm (the rib section will be folded in the middle), adjust
so that the next row is from the right side (i.e. the first row of the piece is purled; this is important
as the rib will be folded up on the right side to finish and then this row will be seen as a knitted

:
row (stocking stitch)). Change to circular needle size 5 mm and continue in GARTER STITCH – see
description above. Work until the piece measures approx. 26-27-28 cm from the cast-on edge. On
the next row decrease 0-4-0 stitches evenly on row = 80-80-88 stitches. Insert 8 markers in the
piece as follows: 1 marker is inserted after 5 stitches, the next 7 markers are inserted with 10-10-
11 stitches between each and there are 5 stitches left on the row after the last marker. Knit 1 row.
Then decrease on every 2nd row as follows:
Row 1: Knit and decrease by knitting 2 stitches together before each marker = 8 stitches
decreased.
Row 2: Knit.
Row 3: Knit and decrease by knitting 2 stitches together after each marker = 8 stitches decreased.
Row 4: Knit.
Repeat rows 1-4 a total of 4 times = 16-16-24 stitches on the needle.
SIZE L/XL: Repeat rows 1-2 one more time = 16 stitches on the needle.
ALL SIZES:
On the next row knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 8-8-8 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them
through the remaining stitches a couple of times, tighten and fasten well. The piece measures
approx. 31-32-33 cm.
ASSEMBLY:
Sew the hat together mid back; sew in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so that the
seam is flat. Fold the rib border up, so that the first row on the rib is 1 row of stocking stitch. You
can fasten the folded section in place with a couple of stitches on each side of the hat, if you wish.
SCARF – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. The whole piece is knitted in one go, but
you will work in parts which are then worked together. The piece is worked in GARTER STITCH –
see description above. All yarn overs are knitted to leave holes.
SCARF:
Cast on 3 stitches with 1 strand Delight and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) with circular needle
size 5 mm.
