A person under custodial investigation has the right to remain silent, the right to be informed of this right in a language they understand, the right to legal counsel including free counsel if they cannot afford it, the right to not be tortured or threatened, and the right to not be secretly or solitary detained. Any confession obtained without upholding these rights is inadmissible in court.

RIGHT OF A PERSON Right to be reminded that if he cannot

afford the services of a counsel he would


UNDER CUSTODIAL be provided with one
INVESTIGATION

Right against torture, force, violence,


Right to be informed, in a language known to and threat, intimidation, or any other means
understood by him, of his rights to remain silent
which vitiate his free will.

Right to have a competent and


independent counsel preferably of his own
Right against secret detention places, solitary,
choice
incommunicado, or other similar forms of
detention place.
Any confession or admission obtained in
violation of this or Section 17 hereof shall be
inadmissible in evidence against him.
