What is customary to do in Greece?

You can visit:

• Greece is the best holiday destination in Europe.

• All the Greek islands are unique, wonderful and worth visiting. But my favorites
(especially for newbies) are Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, and Crete.

• If you can only go to one island, then visit Crete or Santorini (they have the most things
to see and do). If you can only go two, visit Santorini and Naxos (very easy to find) or
Santorini and Mykonos (both have international airports that make it easy to visit from
Western Europe).

• Best Greek Island for Couples and Honeymoon: Santorini

• The best Greek island for children and families: Naxos.

• Best Greek islands for nightlife: Mykonos • Ios • Santorini

• Best Greek islands for beaches: Mykonos • Naxos • Paros • Ios • Crete

• The best Greek islands to eat: Naxos • Santorini • Crete

• Best Greek islands for hiking: Naxos • Santorini • Crete • Sifnos

• Athens deserves a full day or two of sightseeing. But after that, go to an island. Athens
has some great tours not to be missed and the best hotels in Athens are centrally located
and great value for money.

What is offensive to do in Greece?

It is the traditional obscene gesture among the Greeks; It consists of showing the palm of
the hand with the fingers open before the person who wants to insult. The closer the hand
is to the other person's face, the more offensive the gesture is considered. It is usually
accompanied by expressions.
The person who insults extends his hand in the direction of the face of the insulted,
showing him the palm and outstretched fingers. It should give the impression that you are
slapping the other person's hand in the face, even though you are away from them. For
emphasis, the mundsa is sometimes done with two hands (double mundsa): one open
hand strikes the other from behind.

A variation of the mundsa is the closed world, consisting of showing the interlocutor's fist
and saying "φύσα" (fisa), which means blowing, to open the fingers.
When a Greek person wants to indicate the number five to someone, he is careful not to
open his fingers too wide, or else he shows the face of the hand to his interlocutor, so that
he does not interpret the gesture with a mundsa.
