• identify ineffective activities, lessons, and teaching practices


• find better ways to teach -- even if I don't know what that looks like yet
• brainstorm new ideas in a nonjudgmental way (because more ideas lead to better ideas)
• make the best plans I can based on the best wisdom I have at the time
• bravely try my best to create learning experiences that make a positive difference in student lives
• evaluate my efforts honestly and critically to find ways to improve -- and take action to improve
• refuse to dwell on failure, constantly finding ways to do better next time

I hereby receive this designation as "Maverick Teacher" and


solemnly swear to uphold its values to the best of my ability,
pledging to do best by my students every day.
