I used to work with inner-city youth, and it was a challenging time for me. There
were many encounters with students there that have helped to shape me in how I
approach teaching, which is to never judge a student because I do not know what
their upbringings are. This has helped me to be a more patient and understanding
person in general, because many of those children have gone through more
heartache and pain than I have in my life. I have had to report cases of child abuse
many times, and it is an extremely unfortunate situation that some of those
children have had to deal with. I truly do care about any student I come across,
because they deserve every chance in the world to be the best that they can be. It
is my goal and desire to help out students, especially those that want to learn.
