MICROSTRUCTURE VS HARDNESS
It is the microstructure and not the hardness that determines the abrasive resistance of anti-wear products.

Quenched & Tempered (Q & T) steels are single phase alloys consisting of quenched & tempered martensite.
A Q&T microstructure and a carbide microstructure may show same bulk hardness but the carbide
microstructure may exhibit a wear resistance more than 6 times higher than Q&T Plate.

Cast-O-Glide has a dual metallurgical structure consisting of hard carbides embedded in a supporting matrix.
Cast-O-Glide with its most optimised carbide matrix system & a very high volume fraction of carbides (~60%) is
suitable not only for severe abrasive wear but also when there is associated impact and (or) erosion.

The two graphs below shows how the presence of hard carbides in the matrix (Fig 2) is responsible for wear
resistance and not the bulk hardness of the material (Fig 1).

As the Volume Fraction of Carbides (VFC) increases, the Wear Resistance increases.
Hardness has a Minimal effect on reducing abrasion loss.

WHY CAST-O-GLIDE FAR OUTPERFORMS WELD CLAD PLATE?

INNOVATIVELY SMOOTH SURFACE
(High Density and Ultra Wear Resistant Carbide system)
Surface smoothness, uniform surface hardness (62-64 HRC) and uniform carbide distribution are all
critical to overall performance. Generally, a rough surface finish will accelerate wear anywhere from
200 to 600% in comparison to a smooth surface of the same alloy structure and hardness.

Cast-O-Glide plates are manufactured using advanced


fusion bond Japanese technology to apply a highly
abrasive resistant chromium carbide on to a steel
substrate producing most consistent chemistry and micro
structure with smooth overlay deposit and nil dilution.
The smooth surface of Cast-O-Glide (39% less coefficient
of friction than SS/Q&T) eliminates hang-ups and carry
back and offers the best solution to clogging and choking
in material handling equipments.

Cast-O-Glide improves the efficiency of equipments
 Reduces hang up and carry back in mining and earth moving equipments such as excavator, bucket, dump
truck. These equipments typically lose 10-20% efficiency due to material hang up. Cast-O-Glide liners can
save up to 30% in tipping time with less than 1% of carry back.
 Prevents clogging in chute bin and hopper.
 Reduces liner thickness in chute and hoppers enhance volume of material handling.
 Reduces liner weight & material Handling cost.
