Timmy the Tiny Lion

Crochet Pattern Created by Melissa Trenado

You will need…


 Yarn Color A (Red Heart Super Saver Solids in Gold)
 Yarn Color B for hair (Hobby Lobby I love this yarn in Brown)
 Small amount of black yarn to embroider nose and mouth
 Fiberfill Stuffing
 Yarn Needle
 Size D 3.25mm or desired crochet hook
 Black Fabric Paint for eyes
 Stitch Markers
 Sewing needles (optional) If you would like to use them to hold things in
place before sewing together.

Stitches and Abbreviations used…


Ch - chain
Sl - slip stitch
Sc - single crochet
St - stitch
Sts - stitches
Rpt - repeat
Inc - increase, 2 sc in the same space
Dec - decrease or sc2tog (single crochet 2 together)

Note : All pieces are made in a continuous spiral unless other wise stated.

Head
 With yarn color A
Rnd 1 ~ Using a magic ring (or chain 2 if you prefer) place 8 sc into the magic
ring or into the 2nd chain on the hook.
Rnds 2-3 ~ sc around (8 sc)
Rnd 4 ~ inc in the next 4 sts, sc in the last 4 sts (12 sc)
Rnd 5 ~ (sc, inc) 4 times, sc in the last 4 sts (16 sc)
Rnds 6-8 ~ sc around (16 sc)
Rnd 9 ~ sc in 2 sts, dec / rpt around (12 sc)
Rnd 10 ~ sc, dec / rpt around (8 sc)
 Stuff
Rnd 11 ~ dec around (4 sc)
 Fasten off leaving a long tail.
 Using your yarn needle sew close.

Using your yarn needle and black yarn embroider nose and mouth.

Body
 With yarn color A
Rnd 1 ~ Using a magic ring (or chain 2 if you prefer) place 6 sc into the magic
ring or into the 2nd chain on the hook.
Rnd 2 ~ inc around (12 sc)
Rnd 3 ~ sc, inc / rpt around (18 sc)
Rnds 4-5 ~ sc around (18 sc)
Rnd 6 ~ sc in 4 sts, dec/ rpt around (15 sc)
Rnd 7 ~ sc around (15 sc)
Rnd 8 ~ sc in 3 sts, dec / rpt around (12 sc)
Rnd 9 ~ sc around (12 sc)
 stuff
Rnd 10 ~ sc in 2 sts, dec / rpt around (9 sc)
 Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew together with the head.

Arms
 With yarn color A
Rnd 1 ~ Using a magic ring (or chain 2 if you prefer) place 4 sc into the magic
ring or into the 2nd chain on the hook.
Rnd 2 ~ inc around (8 sc)
Rnds 3-5 ~ sc around (8 sc)
 Stuff hand, do not stuff the rest of the arm.
Rnd 6 ~ sc in 2 sts, dec / rpt around (6 sc)
Rnds 7-10 ~ sc around (6 sc)
Rnd 11 ~ Ch 1, fold arm in half and crochet through both sides at the same time
(3 sc)
 Fasten off leaving a long tail.
 Sew onto the body right under the head.

Legs
With yarn color A
Rnd 1 ~ Using a magic ring (or chain 2 if you prefer) place 6 sc into the magic
ring or into the 2nd chain on the hook.
Rnd 2 ~ inc around (12 sc)
Rnds 3-5 ~ sc around (12 sc)
 Stuff foot, do not stuff the rest of the leg.
Rnd 6 ~ sc, dec / rpt around (8 sc)
Rnds 7-9 ~ sc around ((8 sc)
Rnd 10 ~ Ch 1, fold leg in half and crochet through both sides at the same time
(4 sc)
 Fasten off leaving a long tail.
 Sew onto the bottom of the body.

Tail
 With yarn color A
 Do not stuff
Rnd 1 ~ Using a magic ring (or chain 2 if you prefer) place 5 sc into the magic
ring or into the 2nd chain on the hook.
Rnds 2-6 ~ sc around (5 sc)
Rnd 7 ~ (sc, inc) 2 times, sc in last st (7 sc)
Rnd 8 ~ inc once, sc in the last 6 sts (8 sc)
Rnd 9 ~ Ch 1, fold tail in half and crochet through both sides at the same time
(4 sc)

For the lion mane

Starting at the bottom of the head (sc, ch 7) repeat around the entire face. As
pictured below.
Then continue the mane in spirals around the back of the head. As pictured
below.
Now you will need to add hair around the base of the tail. (sc, ch 5)

Lastly you will want to add 2 little dots of fabric paint for his eyes, or however
you wish to do his eyes.
