Beginner's Guide to Natal Chart Predictions

This document outlines a technique for predicting outcomes based on the placement of planets in the houses of a birth chart. It defines four rules: 1) A planet in a house promotes the significations of that house ruled by that planet or its friends. Significations ruled by planet enemies are harmed. 2) The house lord increases effects of its ruled significations and harms those of its enemies. 3) Houses 6, 8, and 12 from a planet's placement are "signification lagna" whose significations are harmed by that planet. 4) Signification lagna significations ruled by enemies of the lagna lord or planet are most harmed. Technique of Prediction – Based on Signification of Houses

This is a simple technique, based on Natal Chart, to predict for beginners. Though,
a detailed study is required for a more comprehensive analysis.
The Natal Chart has 12 houses. Each House has a set of Significations. These
significations (or Karaktavas) are governed or ruled by planets. Thus, each house,
does not have one or two Karak Grahs (planets), but have so many Karak Grahs
depending on the Significations governed by that house.
I have defined Four Rules that will help beginners understand my Prediction
Technique.
Rule 1
A planet promotes the significations of the house where it is placed in the Natal
Chart.
1) The above stated planet (which is placed in the given house) promotes those
significations of the house, which belong to or our governed by the particular
planet or which are governed by the friends of the given planet.
2) Hence, those significations of the given house that are governed by enemies of
the concerned planet are harmed.
Rule 2
The lord of the house shall increase the intensity/positive effect of those
significations that are ruled by it of are ruled by planets that are friendly to
it.
Hence, the significations of the given house that are ruled by enemies to to the
lord of the house shall be harmed or their intensity would decrease.
Summary of Rule 1 and 2
We have to look at the placement of the given planet (whose Dasha or Antardasha we
are studying) in the Natal Chart. Understand the significations of that house.
Further, study how these significations are effected by applying Rule 1 and 2.
Rule 3
Look for those three houses from which the given planet is placed in Dusthan
(6,8,12). These three houses are referred as “Signification Lagnas”.
The significations of the Signification Lagna would be harmed, as the given planet
is placed in Dusthan from the Signification Lagna.
Here we are referring to all significations of the Signification Lagna, whether
ruled by the given planet or not.
Note
1. Signification Lagnas : There are the three houses from which the given planet is
placed in Dusthan (6,8,12).
Rule 4
Those significations of the Signification Lagnas would suffer the most which are
ruled by planets in enmity to the lord of Signification Lagna or those
Significations which are ruled or governed by planet in enmity with the planet so
placed in Signification Lagna.
A sample of House wise details of Signification is reproduced for your reference.

Judging placement of a Planet in a House

To understand the effects or results of placement of a planet in a particular house

we may step by step methodology to understand the same. We shall understand this by
taking the example of Sun placed in the 1st House or Lagna. However we need to
understand or define certain terms that we shall be using in the article.
Terms to understand
1. The “Properties” of a house or planet. They are the significations or
karaktatwas that are associated with such House or Planet. For example the
Properties of the 1st house or Lagna are Personality, attitudes, vitality, overall
health, intelligence or hair etc. Similarily the Properties of Sun are
independence, authority, status, power, generosity, a firm and stern attitude and
so on.
2. PlanetA – Herinafter would refer to the Planet placed in a particular house. For
the current article it refers to Sun.
Rule 1
A planet placed in a particular house, hereinafter referred to as PlanetA, will
promote those properties of the house which are owned by such Planet (i.e.
PlanetA), or owned by such planets that are friendly to PlanetA.
Thus when Sun is placed in the first house, it will give such an attitude to the
person. However, we know that when sun is debilitated in Libra, the independence of
the Sun is lost and for such people, the Sun in the Lagna shall make them look for
some form of support for decision making. They shall also have a sense of
deprivation because of the debilitation of the Sun. In the sign Leo, Sun is the
most generous and in Pisces, it is the most knowledgeable. In Sagittarius, it is
the most righteous and protector of dharma etc. You can understand the nature of
the signs and then try figure out how Sun shall behave in each of the signs.
Karakas of Lagna as owned by different planets
Karakas of the Lagna are:
1. Sun- for Personality, attitudes and drive (which comes from the soul) and
conscience
2. Moon- for body and health
3. Jupiter - Intelligence
4. Saturn - Hair
Now the planet under consideration, i.e., Sun shall promote the significations of
the Karakas with whom Sun is friendly and shall damage those with whom Sun has
enmity. Now Sun the karaka for Lagna and hence it shall make the person
conscientious and full of energy and drive. Its a friend of Jupiter and hence shall
make the person intelligent and wise. It is a friend of Moon and hence shall make
the body free of diseases.
It is an enemy of Saturn and hence shall reduce the significations of Saturn making
the person bald or lack hair.
Rule 2
Property of any House owned by PlanetA (House1)<-> House of Placement of PlanetA
(House2)
Difference of House1 and House2 (Starting from House1 moving anticlockwise). If the
difference is 6,8 or 12 then it will not give good results regarding the properties
of House1 that are owned by PlanetA.
Sun is the karaka for the
2nd- for eye sight
5th- power and authority
9th- Dharma, Father
10th- Recognition in profession and enterprise
From 2nd Sun is placed in the 12th house, which is a marana karaka sthana, this
shows that the native shall have defective eye sight. However if Sun is exalted,
then the weakness of Sun is cancelled to some extent, salvaging the eye sight. The
cause of the weakness of Sun is Saturn being the karaka for the 12th house. If
Saturn aspects such Sun, then it becomes difficult to salvage the eye sight.
From 5th, Sun is placed in the 9th house, a trine and shall promise good position,
status and authority. The cause of strength of such Sun is Sun and Jupiter both
being the karaka for the 9th house. The influence of Jupiter on such Sun shall be
helpful in giving power and authority to the person.
From 9th, Sun is placed in the 5th house, and hence shall protect the 9th house of
Father and Dharma. Thus such persons shall be having a righteous life and happiness
from father.
From 10th, Sun is placed in a kendra, making the native enterprising and gain
recognition for his work. However the karaka for fame is Jupiter, and if it
influences such Sun, then the person gets his due recognition and also becomes
famous.
The above article looks into isolation the effect of a planet with respect to a
house. Astrology requires a holistic reading, that is taking or reading the chart
as a whole.
