Purchase Agreement/ Health Guarantee
Thank you for deciding to purchase one of our puppies! We want to make this a stress free and
enjoyable experience for you. Please feel free to email, text, or call me with any questions or
concerns that you might have along the way. We will keep you up to date with information about
your puppy as it grows until it is time for your puppy to go to its new home.
This contract is written for the protection of both the breeder and the buyer – however, it is primarily
written to protect the health and general well-being of the puppy.
Purchase Agreement
1. We require a deposit in order to hold the puppy of your choice.
2. $200 of this deposit is non-refundable, unless there is a problem with the health of your puppy.
In that case, the buyer will have their choice of a full refund or of transferring that deposit toward
another puppy.
**Please be certain that you are ready for the time commitment and financial
responsibility of a puppy prior to putting a deposit on one**
3. If, during the course of this puppy’s life, buyer cannot or does not wish to maintain proper care
of this puppy, seller has first right of refusal and/or will help place this puppy in an appropriate
home. The puppy will never be relinquished to an animal shelter. If a suitable home cannot be
found for the puppy, seller will take the puppy in and care for it. Shipping will be at the owner’s
expense.
4. It is responsibility of the buyer to care for the puppy properly and keep it free from harm. Please
remember that your puppy must be treated with great care and protected from danger.
5. Within six months of age, the puppy must be microchipped with the breeder listed as secondary
owners. This is to ensure we get contacted if the puppy is ever lost or sent to a shelter.
Health Guarantee
1. It will be up to us, the breeders, to decide when the puppy will be ready to go to its new home.
The puppy is usually ready to leave its mother at the age of 8 weeks, however, (depending on
the buyer’s circumstances), weight of the puppy and how easily it is weaned from the mother is
taken into consideration. We will not, under any circumstances, let the puppy leave before it is
ready.
2. The puppy is guaranteed to be in good health at the time of sale.
3. The puppy will be up to date on shots and worming at the time of pick up. It is very important
that you continue the vaccinations and worming. Please do not expose your puppy to other
dogs that are not vaccinated until he/she has completed the entire vaccination schedule –
around 16 weeks old.
4. The puppy will have been vet checked, dew claws removed, and tails docked at the time of
sale.
5. The buyer, at their own expense, should have the puppy examined by a Licensed Vet within 72
hours of receiving the puppy. Documentation must be sent to the breeder within ten days in
order for the Health Guarantee to be honored.
6. If within 72 hours, a licensed vet finds the puppy to be unhealthy to be unhealthy or unfit for
sale, the puppy may be returned for a full refund – provided the puppy has not been injured or
neglected. The veterinarian must provide a written statement deeming the puppy “unhealthy for
purchase”.
7. This guarantee does not cover any health issues caused by neglect or injury from the buyer.
8. This guarantee does not include minor illnesses and health issues such as colds, allergies,
internal or external parasites or umbilical hernias. However, the breeder will disclose any known
illnesses or health issues prior to the sale.
9. The breeder assumes no responsibility for any medical expenses incurred after the sale.
10. The breeder assumes no responsibility for training difficulties or behavior problems. Buyer will
receive an informational packet on how to train new puppy. If buyer follows the
recommendations given in the packet, the buyer should not have any problems with the training
process.
11. The breeder does not guarantee fertility or ability to place in shows. The puppy is strictly sold as
a TOP QUALITY PET.
12. The Breeder gives a two-year guarantee against any congenital defects of the puppy. Should
two unassociated veterinarians diagnose this puppy with a disease or life-threating congenital
defect, buyer must provide a written statement from both vets, including the vet’s name,
address, and phone number. The buyer can decide to return the puppy to the breeder for a
refund or breeder will pay 50% of actual and documented vet costs (up to $200) for treatment.
Guarantee for Canine Hip Dysplasia are only provided if puppies are not neutered before two
years of age or spayed/bred before one year.
13. To maintain good health, the buyer agrees to have the puppy examined, vaccinated, and
checked for internal parasites, including heartworm, annually by a licensed veterinarian. The
dog will be maintained on heartworm prevention as recommended for the area of residence and
will be treated as recommended by the vet and within reason for any other problems. The buyer
will also strive to keep the puppy free of external parasites throughout its life.
14. If for any reason buyer is unable to keep the puppy, they agree to return the puppy to Brookfield
Farm and not place in other home unless given permission by the breeder. If puppy is returned
within the first 30 days, purchase price minus deposit will be refunded after the puppy has been
placed in his/her new home. The deposit kept will cover the cost of re-advertisement and
keeping the puppy current on vaccinations and worming until the puppy is placed in his/her new
home. If puppy is returned after the 30 days no money will be refunded.
