Advantages and Disadvantages of working in teams

Advantages (+) :

1.Mutual respect. First of all, in professional terms, if we are talking about joint
activities. In other words, one team member may not respect the other's human
qualities, but they must respect their professionalism and opinion.

2. Teamwork. Teamwork empowers people with willingness, determination, and

the ability to cooperate, even when people of different statuses interact.

3. Looks directed in one direction. All team members should strive for the same
thing. In this regard, motivation is of great importance. If you clearly explain to all
team members what each of them will get by making an effort to work together,
then together they will strive to do the job "perfectly".

4.Working in a team brings up tolerance in its members, teaches them to order,

teaches them to respect other people's opinions and behave correctly during
discussions, and to overcome selfishness. These factors affect the overall success
of the firm.

5.An employee who has proven himself well in working as part of a team receives
additional qualifications that are valuable both for him and for the company.

Disadvantages (-) :

1. Teamwork requires additional time. The fact is that the team members have to
"get used" to each other, and this can take a long time. In addition, time is also
needed to find a suitable form of collaboration.

2.Discussions that occur when working as part of a team take up a lot of time,
especially if individual employees do not know how to conduct them. There may
be serious disagreements.

3. The anonymity of the results may negatively affect the desire of team members
to work. An inefficient employee can "cover up" for an effective one if their
performance is low. There is no incentive to be ambitious in teamwork, because
there is no individualized reward for success.
4. If the team does not have a worthy leader, it is difficult to set up the group in
the right working way, to organize the work process.

5.Team work is characterized by some slowness, which is most noticeable when

there are a lot of people in the team, as well as when one of the members
combines team work with individual work. It is also often difficult to gather all
participants in one place at one time, and this negatively affects the entire
process.
