Grinding Machine

Aim: -

To Cut & Grind Concrete Core specimen for

Laboratory testing.

Apparatus

• Core Cutting Grinding Machine

• Diamond Impregnated Core Cutting

Grinding Wheel.

• A V-Vice, to hold the sample up to 100

mm dia x 140mm long to be cut parallel

and square to the longitudinal axis

• Cooling water arrangement is provided

• This unit is provided with a Three

Phase, 440 V AC. Motor.

Procedure

1. Place the core cutting grinding machine

over the selected location.

2. Fix core cutting grinding wheel.

3. Fill water in Tray.

4. Fix core sample at position in V Vice

5. Switch on power supply.

6. Start cooling water supply from pump.

7. Make adjustment of sample by using

position setting wheel on front side of

machine.

8. Apply Constant downward pressure on

the lever. Failure to apply constant

pressure, or too much pressure, may

cause the wheel to bind or distort the

core.

9. Switch off supply after process is

completed.

Note

Cores longer that 140 mm can be prepared

by reversing the specimen and holding

against the vice
