Fire Test

Captain: Ground Cockpit, Carrying out fire test and starting APU( First time before talking to
ground, press GND CALL on Overhead panel)
Ground: Go ahead

1. Fire test 1 (5 lights)


2. Fire Test 2 ( 11 lights)
3. Fire extinguisher 1 & 2 (3 lights)
4. Cargo bay test ( 7 lights)

 Range personally like to be at lowest before takeoff
 Turn OFF WX and TERR if ON ( dangerous for grnd crew)
 Course – Set Departure Course i.e Agosa1c (309)

 Heading – Runway Heading
 Speed- Standby

Centre Panel

 Oxygen Test – Difficult to explain – learn in sim

 DU NORMAL (don’t normally touch)

 Test Light( FO) 1- 2 red 1 amber 2- 3 amber
 Brake pressure GREEN
 Landing gear DOWN
 Flaps 0 NO LIGHTS and check the flaps setting at centre pedestal
 Autobrakes RTO
 For Captain got another light test, put lights to TEST and check ALL lights is working

Centre Pedestal ( Captain Only)


 Trim 5 units
 Speedbrake Up
 Parking Brake Set
 Throttle lever IDLE
 Engine Start Lever Cutoff
 Flaps 0
 Stab Trim Guarded

Radio Panel
 FO set radio frequency for VHF 1 and 2 or Capt can do it while FO doing preflight
 Set departure airport VOR frequency and next VOR enroute on standby
 WX tilt set 5 degrees UP and Wx Test
 Transponder set 2000 and ALT OFF Or STDBY
 FO get ATIS , take note departure runway, vis and QNH and insert QNH at EFIS ( C and FO)
 Capt check Aileron and Rudder Trim at 0

FMC
1. Route PG
2. DEP ARR PG
3. Go back Route PG 2 and insert your route and Activate and Execute
4. Perf Pg
5. N1 pg
6. Takeoff Pg
7. Get V2 and put at MCP
8. Legs page and check whether the route is correct
9. Put EFIS to Plan
10. On CDU will now appear STEP
11. Press Step and your legs will be shown 1 by 1, check all correct and put back to Map
12. Go Progress Page and check distance to dest is valid
13. GO Vnav and check climb and crz speed and restrictions valid , for descent check restrictions and
go forecast to insert trans altitude
14. Capt on Legs PG, FO on Takeoff PG

LD: Ace1, cleared to……. via the…….departure then flight plan route , initial climb 6000,
squawk 2121

Capt check the clearance


 Check in FMC that dest is………. and using ……….. departure
 Then check the intial climb is set at MCP i.e 6000
 Check squawk is 2124

C: Get Pushback clearance


FO: Lumpur Apron, Ace 1 request pushback and start
LA: Ace 1 , cleared for pushback and start facing east
FO: Capt we are cleared for pushback and start facing east
C: Ground, carry out ground and clearance to pressurize hydraulics
G: Capt, grounds checks is done, go ahead

 Engine Start Switch to GND, after this action, Capt hand on the fuel lever ( DON’T REMOVE!!)
 Start Timer
 FO: Start Valve Open
 FO: N2 rotation
 25% N2, Capt put fuel lever to idle detent and start timer with the other hand
 Fuel flow increase and EGT rising
 56%, start valve closed , engine start switch goes back to off
 FO say starter cutout
 Engines stabilized , N1 20%, EGT 400, N2 60%
 C: Ground, Starting 1
 C: Start 1, repeat process

 Taxi Lights OFF ( Leave on if bad vis or night)

PF: Set N1 40% and start timer

PM: 40% stabilized

PF: Press TOGA button and say N1 TOGA ( aircraft moves very fast so start keeping it on centreline)

Throttle Lever starts moving up on its own, once its almost up

PF: remove hands from throttle and say Check Thrust

PM: put hands on throttle and say Thrust Set

PM: ask PF to correct and come back on centreline

PM: 80 knots

PF: check

PF/PM: THR HOLD


PF: Check

PM: V1 , ROTATE !!!!

PF-Pull nose up to 15 degrees

PM: Positive Rate !

PF: Gear Up

PM: 400ft

PF: LNAV/Heading Select

PM- Contact Departure !!!! ( Lumpur Departure ACE1 is passing 600 climbing to 6000 with squawk..)

PM: 1000ft

PF: N1 bug up

PM- press N1 and bug speed to 210/220

*White bug touch*

PF: Flaps 1

PM: Speedcheck, Flaps 1


Wait speed reach 1

PF: Flaps UP

PM: Speedcheck, Flaps UP

Wait flaps fully up and no lights

PF: After T/O checks

PM- does after takeoff checks and checklist

PF- has the option to engage autopilot, if engaged announce CMD

PM and PF both increase range on EFIS and PF sync heading to current heading !!

Now approaching 6000, IF not given higher altitude, PM have to ask for higher altitude from
departure

PM: ACE1, request higher

LD: Ace1 , continue climb to FL150

PF- SET 15000 at MCP then say ‘FL150 set’, PM say ‘Check’ ( anytime you change anything at MCP
you have to say what you set then PM will say check – speed, heading, alt)

IF AUTOPILOT ENGAGED, THE MCP ONLY PF CAN TOUCH!!!!!! ( if really too high workload PF can
REQUEST PM to touch)

10000ft

INBOARD light OFF, Seatbelt Auto

Approaching FL110

PM: Approaching FL110, set STD

PF-Set STD on EFIS

PM: Approaching 11600…….now

PF: Check

The plane probably has turned to a new heading , sync your heading everytime the aircraft turn !!!

When not sure what to do , check range and heading ! monitor ND for traffic or Du for any engine
problems

Once cruising , PF FMC will be on CRZ pg, check how far T/D

Approx 70-80 miles from T/D start descent planning


Descent Planning

PF: Get me weather at Penang

PM-Go on Atis and get weather

PF : OK, weather at penang okay we go there

PF: You have Controls , then announce FMA

PM: I Have controls and readback FMA

ATIS

FMC- GO DEP ARR put in the arrival then go legs pg and set BOD, clean up and check Speeds and Alt

Speed- Go init ref , set flaps and get vref

Minima- get minima at chart and set at EFIS or can skip this step and do it during chart brief

Radios- Set ILS/VOR frequency at radio panel

Briefings- CTWOF

AutoBrakes- Set to 2/3

PM: You have controls, announce FMA

PF: I have controls readback FMA

PF: Descent Checklist

 Descent Checklist

Now approaching T/D

If you approach T/D and you didn’t set lower ALT in MCP , plane wont go down

So once 10 miles to T/D, PM can ask from departure/radar for descend, get clearance for lower ALT
then PF set new alt at MCP.

Set baro to STD


PF: Approach Checks -RIA

 Radios- check radio frequency set


 Inbound – check inbound course set
 Altimeter- Check using local QNH

 Inboards light ON seatbelt ON


 The ILS/VOR frequency you have inserted at the NAV panel would have been identified by
now and showing at the PFD
 PM/PF: IWR/VKL/ISB etc Identified !!
