Mrs. Jean Rolands was found dead on the lawn outside her home at 3pm. Police are investigating whether her death was an accident, suicide, or murder. Several neighbors are persons of interest. Arthur Ramasgrave lives upstairs and knew Mrs. Rolands' late husband better. Elizabeth Atwell lives across from her and saw someone leaving Mrs. Rolands' home around 10am while she was having coffee. Ivan Walters made a service call to her home around 9:15am and heard noise coming from the bedroom that he believes was the cleaner. Bessie Talbot disliked Mrs. Rolands and saw her outside the flats around 10am but did not speak to her.

Who did it?

Police found the body of Mrs. Jean Rolands on the lawn outside her home at three o’clock in the
afternoon.
Read the evidence and decide if it was an accident, suicide or murder …and if it was a murder, who
did it / Work it out.

Arthur Ramasgrave Elizabeth Atwell

I live up on the top floor. I don’t I live across corridor from Mrs.
know Mrs. Rolands very well. I Rolands. I think Miss Forester,
knew her husband better. I Mrs. Rolands’ neighbor, opened
always thought he was going to her door when I was having coffee
marry Ann – Ann Forester, that is at about ten o’clock, and someone
people always surprise you left. I thought it was Miss Forester,
though, don’t they? but I saw her hurrying out to the
shops twenty minutes later.

Ivan Walters Bessie Talbot

I work for a TV repair firm. I called on Mrs. I never liked Mrs. Rolands. I was
Rolands at about 9:15 A.M. Her cleaner opened the going to the library when I saw her
door. I repaired the TV … I don’t think Mrs. outside the block of flats at about 10
Rolands was in while I was working there. There was o’clock. Of course, I didn’t speak to
a lot of noise in the bedroom, but I think that was the her … I never do, yet I think it’s a
cleaner pity what happened to her.
