Brief Background of Gensantos Foundation College, Inc.
The Gensantos Foundation, Inc. is one of the four divisions when the foundation was
approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1991. It started as a research and
training center, a CPA review school and finally a collegiate institution in 1994. Hence, the logo
carries the initials GFI for Gensantos Foundation, Inc. and the year the college started its
operation of two baccalaureate degrees and two-year course in 1994. The ten frames forming a
decagon is the vision of the founder, Dr. Dominador S. Dizon, CPA, to achieve or offer at last ten
baccalaureate degrees in the year to come. Hopefully, after the moratorium from the
Commission on Higher Education to offer new courses, we can increase more degrees for the
future students to avail of.
History
One decade of existence is an indication of a great success of Gensantos Foundation
Inc., – College as one of the newly but strongly established educational institution in General
Santos City. Despite of the growing competition in different universities and colleges still GFI-
College proved its capability of providing high quality education leading to productive graduates
in the field of Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Banking and Finance, Management Accounting and
most especially the pride and honor of the institution of producing Certified Public Accountants
(CPA’s) through its own graduates of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.
The Gensantos Foundation Inc., – College Division is one of the four divisions then the

offers two baccalaureate degrees and another two year course. Today the institution offers six
baccalaureate degrees (Bachelor of Science in Accountancy; Bachelor of Science in Commerce
Major in Banking and Finance; Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics and
English) Which occupies out three of the ten frames forming a decagon of the GFI-College logo
which showed a partial fulfillment of the of the vision of the founder, Dr. Dominador S. Dizon,
CPA to achieve or offer at least ten baccalaureate degrees in the years to come.
Then ten years operation resulted to a lot of improvements. Such as the increase in
terms of the number of students, extension of school site, construction of new building,
additional classrooms and facilities. In March 1998 the institution produced merely thirty
graduates and increased to two hundred fourty-nine in March 2004. The school campus was
first established at Nstra. Sra. Dela Paz Street with a total land area of 454 sq.m. , consisting two
storey wooden classrooms until it was extended to Bulaong Extension and became the main
campus of GFI-College wherein the new four storey concrete building was a built. The wooden
white house the new and spacious library, the faculty room, the wide covered court and the
mini park are located. The new four storey concrete provided additional classrooms, laboratory
and offices of the Administration and the registrar. The wooden white house was divided into
five separate offices for the Accounting Department Head, Guidance, Student Welfare,
Education and the JPIA office and mini library for the Accountancy Students. The covered court
was used as a venue for school activities.
At present, there are nine clubs and one organization founded by the students headed
by the elected officers, appointed advisers and selected core group that are authorized and
approved by the school administrative. The Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Komersyo
(SAMAKO), the GLEE Club, Women’s and Men’s Club, the Developers Club, Arts Club, Education
and the Kapinsanan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Filipino (KAMPIL), Officers and core group of every
clubs and organization with their respective advisers are entitled to facilitate academic and
non-academic activities and programs of the school Such activities enhance both the mental
and physical aspects of the students, help them improve and gain self- confidence by
participating in every activity , expressing and sharing their talents, abilities and skills. The
faculty and staff can also impart additional inputs to the students aside from the classroom
discussions through their full support and participation in every activity.
