I- Introduction to Media and Information Literacy

 Communication – is the directed and purposeful exchange of information and message


between people or groups of people by speaking, writing, gestures. And sign.
 Media includes every broadcasting and narrowcasting medium such as newspapers,
magazines, TV, radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and internet. Media is the plural
of medium and can take a plural or singular verb, depending on the sense intended.
 Literacy the ability to read and write.
 Message refer to any form of communication (information, feelings, and ideas passed or
transmitted using a channel. It is a collection of symbol that appear purposefully organized
(meaningful) to those sending or receiving.
 Interpersonal Communication refers to the communication between two persons, whether
they are verbal or non- verbal.
 Mass Communication is the term commonly used to refer to communication system that are
configure to create, produce, and disseminate media texts to mass audience.
