Planning Session: 2 ¼ hours
Practical examination 3 hours
Drawing instruments, tracing paper, letraset and similar aids are allowed.
Answer one question stating its number .
The Art teacher should supply the candidates with cards measuring 5cm wide by
12cm long with which the candidates will demarcate the area in the top right hand
corner of the front surface of the paper. In this area the candidate’s name, random
number and personal number, in that order, must be written clearly.
This area must not be painted.
To the Candidates:
Apart from the particular media asked for by the question, candidates are
recommended to consider the choice of different materials and processes and are
reminded that the following are possible; coloured inks, poster and water colour,
stencils, wax resist, collage or printing from line, potato and vegetable or fruit or
the use of any materials such as junks, wire or string which may give an
interesting texture.
Instructions to candidates for PLANNING Session (2 ¼ Hours)
You are required to spend the 2¼ hours doing the following:
(i) Reading and selecting both task and materials
(ii)Sketching
(iii) Transfer if necessary

1. In an area 22cm x 20cm x 3cm design a book cover entitled “Modern Fashions”. The book
describes and illustrates the mode and relevance of each dress code, from head gears to foot
wears for adults and children. The author of the book is Joso Fishonalete and “Unity press
limited” and the publishers. Use not more than three colours.
2. In an area 27cm x 36cm and using only three colours, design a poster with the theme “Grow
more food” aimed at educating the public against the causes of famine in Uganda. Include the
words “Learn to store the future”
3. In an area 15cm x 18cm, design a badge for “Rembo cleaners’ Association” which takes the
responsibility of cleaning Wanainchi city. Their motto is “keep clean, be healthy” Use only
three colours.
4. In an area 15cm x 22cm and in only three colours, design a seasonal greetings card to your
friend outside the country, with the following words;
“May this season be a happy one as the Lord protects you, saves you, and guides you through
this festive season for we rejoice and delight in Him”
